TEXT - PS 1:1-3 BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT WALKETH NOT IN THE COUNSEL OF THE
UNGODLY, NOR STANDETH IN THE WAY OF SINNERS, NOR SITTETH IN THE SEAT OF THE
SCORNFUL. 2 BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD; AND IN HIS LAW DOTH HE
MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT. 3 AND HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF
WATER, THAT BRINGETH FORTH HIS FRUIT IN HIS SEASON; HIS LEAF ALSO SHALL NOT
WITHER; AND WHATSOEVER HE DOETH SHALL PROSPER.
INTRO. WE MUST ALL WORK TOWARD BEARING THE RIGHT KIND OF FRUIT. SEEMS THAT
MOST OF OUR CONCERNS ARE OUR FRUIT MULTIPLYING. WE DEMAND FRUIT IMMEDIATELY
EVEN THOUGH THE ROOT MAY BE WEAK AND KNOBBY OR MISSING ALTOGETHER. WE’VE
BECOME IMPATIENT. THE BOUGH - ( LARGE OR MAIN BRANCH ) THAT BREAKS OFF FROM
THE TREE IN A STORM MAY BLOOM BRIEFLY AND GIVE TO THE ONES THAT PASS BY THE
IMPRESSION THAT IT IS A HEALTHY AND FRUITFUL BRANCH, BUT ITS TENDER BLOOMS
WILL SOON PERISH AND THE BOUGH ITSELF WITHER AND DIE. THERE IS NO LASTING LIFE
APART FROM THE ROOT.
1. THE WORD RHIZOO – TO CAUSE TO TAKE ROOT
A. WHEN WE TAKE ROOT WE TRY TO AVOID AND RENOUNCE THE CAMPANIONSHIP OF
EVIL-DOERS.
B. Ps 119:115 -Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments
of my God.
C. THE WORLD IS FULL OF EVIL-DOERS, YOU CAN SEE THEM ALL AROUND YOU. THEY WALK
ON EVERY SIDE.
D. THEY ARE DESCRIBED BY THREE CHARACTERS, UNGODLY , SINNERS , AND SCORNFUL.
E. UNGODLY - THROUGH AWAY THEIR DUTY TO HIM: BUT THEY REST NOT THERE. WHEN
THE SERVICE OF RELIGION ARE LAID ASIDE, THEY COME TO BE SINNERS, THEY BREAK
OUT INTO OPEN REBELLION AGAINST GOD. THEN THE HEART BECOMES HARDEN THEY OPENLY
DEFY ALL THAT IS SACRED, SCOFF AT RELIGION, AND MAKE JEST OF SIN. THEY HAVE
BECOME SCORNERS.
2. HOW DO WE STAY RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE ?
A. WHEN WE BECOME ROOTED IN OUR MEDITATIONS DAY AND NIGHT.
B. BECAUSE IT IS BY THE WORD WE ARE INSTRUCTED.
· AS A RESULT OF THE WORD SOULS ARE CLEANSED.
· IT IS THROUGH THE WORD WE ARE REGENERATED.
· AND THE WORD IS SPIRIT AND LIFE TO THEM THAT MEDITATE THEREIN DAY AND NIGHT.
C. 2 Tim 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto
all good works.
2. AS A METAPHOR, TO BE ROOTED MEANS TO BE ESTABLISHED, TO BE UPROOTED MEANS
TO BE DISPOSSESSED.
A .THE HIGHEST USE OF THE METAPHOR OF THE WORD ROOT COMES IN THE MESSIANIC
PASSAGES THAT REFER TO JESUS AS THE DESCENDANT OF DAVID:
B. AND IN THAT DAY THERE SHALL BE A ROOT OF JESSE WHO SHALL STAND AS A BANNER
TO THE PEOPLE" ISA. 11:10. ( JEHOVAH - NISSI - THE LORD OUR BANNER ).
C. CHURCH WITHOUT THE ROOT THERE WILL BE NO FRUIT!
D. Eph 3:17 THAT CHRIST MAY DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS BY FAITH; THAT YE, BEING
ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE,
E. EPH 3:17 AMPLIFIED - SAYS - MAY CHRIST THROUGH YOUR FAITH ACTUALLY DWELL
SETTLE DOWN, ABIDE, MAKE HIS PERMANENT HOME IN YOUR HEARTS! MAY YOU BE ROOTED
DEEP IN LOVE AND FOUNDED SECURELY ON LOVE.
F. PROVERBS 12:3 - A MAN SHALL NOT BE ESTABLISHED BY WICKEDNESS: BUT THE ROOT
OF THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL NOT BE MOVED.
G. FOLKS WE MUST NOT FORGET TO BE THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO BE
ROOTED IN HIM. ( HAVE WE LOST SIGHT OF THE ROOT, BECAUSE IT IS HIDDEN)?
H. COL 2:7 ROOTED AND BUILT UP IN HIM, AND STABLISHED IN THE FAITH, AS YE HAVE
BEEN TAUGHT, ABOUNDING THEREIN WITH THANKSGIVING.
3. IMMOVABLE ROOTS - 1 that cannot be moved; firmly fixed; not capable of
movement
2 not moving; immobile; motionless; stationary
3 that cannot be changed; unyielding; steadfast
4 unemotional; impassive
A. 1 Cor 15:58 THEREFORE, MY BELOVED BRETHREN, BE YE STEDFAST, UNMOVEABLE,
ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD, FORASMUCH AS YE KNOW THAT YOUR
LABOUR IS NOT IN VAIN IN THE LORD.
B. THE TAP ROOT IS THE MAIN LIFE SUPPORT. LIKE JESUS IS OUR LIFE SUPPORT. (
TAP INTO LIFE !
TAP INTO JESUS ! ).
C. BANANA TREE- THE BANANA TREE IS STURDY AND RESILIENT - ( THE ABILITY TO
RECOVER FROM OR ADJUST EASILY TO CHANGE OR MISFORTUNE ). EVEN IF IT LOOKS
WEAK. UNBELIEVABLE AS IT SEEMS TO BE, NO FIRE OR TYPHOON CAN KILL IT. EVEN IF
YOU CUT ITS BODY INTO A THOUSAND PIECES, IT STILL CAN SURVIVE. THE ONLY WAY TO
PREVENT IT FROM GROWING IS TO UPROOT IT COMPLETELY.
D. I SAW TREES PRAISING GOD - THE WIND WAS BLOWING THAT DAY AND EVERY BRANCH
IT SEEM TO BE MOVING. I THOUGHT IF WE DON’T PRAISE HIM THE ROCKS AND TREES
WILL. THIS EXPERIENCE WAS SPIRITUAL TO ME . I WEPT IN TEARS WHEN I SEEN THIS.
E. Isa 55:12-13 FOR YE SHALL GO OUT WITH JOY, AND BE LED FORTH WITH PEACE:
THE MOUNTAINS AND THE HILLS SHALL BREAK FORTH BEFORE YOU INTO SINGING, AND ALL
THE TREES OF THE FIELD SHALL CLAP THEIR HANDS.13 INSTEAD OF THE THORN SHALL
COME UP THE FIR TREE, AND INSTEAD OF THE BRIER SHALL COME UP THE MYRTLE TREE:
AND IT SHALL BE TO THE LORD FOR A NAME, FOR AN EVERLASTING SIGN THAT SHALL NOT
BE CUT OFF.
F. THIS IS FOR AN EVERLASTING SIGN OF JUBILANT EXALTATION AND MEMORIAL TO HIS
PRAISE. WHICH WILL NOT BE DESTROYED.
CONCLUSION -
Ps 96:9-13 - O WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS: FEAR BEFORE HIM,
ALL THE EARTH.
10 SAY AMONG THE HEATHEN THAT THE LORD REIGNETH: THE WORLD ALSO SHALL BE
ESTABLISHED THAT IT SHALL NOT BE MOVED: HE SHALL JUDGE THE PEOPLE RIGHTEOUSLY.
11 LET THE HEAVENS REJOICE, AND LET THE EARTH BE GLAD; LET THE SEA ROAR, AND
THE FULNESS THEREOF.
12 LET THE FIELD BE JOYFUL, AND ALL THAT IS THEREIN: THEN SHALL ALL THE TREES
OF THE WOOD REJOICE
13 BEFORE THE LORD: FOR HE COMETH, FOR HE COMETH TO JUDGE THE EARTH: HE SHALL
JUDGE THE WORLD WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THE PEOPLE WITH HIS TRUTH.
THE TREES OF THE FORREST WILL SING FOR JOY. THEY WILL SING
BEFORE HE COMES AND AFTER HE COMES TO JUDGE THE EARTH. (NIV Vs 13 )
I SHALL NOT BE MOVED - IMMOVABLE ROOTS
GLORY HALLELUJAH I SHALL NOT BE MOVED; ANCHORED IN JEHOVAH I SHALL NOT BE
MOVED; JUST LIKE A TREE THAT’S PLANTED BY THE WATERS, I SHALL NOT BE MOVED.
THO’ ALL HELL AS SAIL ME I SHALL NOT BE MOVED; JESUS WILL NOT FAIL ME I SHALL
NOT BE MOVED; JUST LIKE A TREE THAT’S PLANTED BY THE WATERS, I SHALL NOT BE
MOVED.
