Hell and Destruction
Proverbs 15:8-11
Mention: Isaiah 5:14 Hell hath enlarged herself and opened her mouth without measure
Proverbs 15:11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord
The Bible speaks of two distant places the one heaven is imaginable by all of mankind, but few even entertain that thought of the reality of hell the second.
Jesus for 3 years warned of the torments of hell more than expressing the splendor of heaven.
We are occasionally told of people who have pulled other out of burning homes and cars which only produce a temporary sensation of the eternity of hell.
When I think of hell and it horrors I am often reminded of four categories of people.
1. The Unable
See: Luke 15:10 There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
These are those that have graduated to heaven and they are unable to affect the results of hell, but only left with the pleasures of rejoicing over those who escape its judgment.
Mention: Luke 16:27-28 The prayer of one in hell for his five brethren that he knew were destined for hell. “Place of torment”
Point: It has become too late for him and he cannot personally affect hell by warning his brethren.
Mention: Mark 9:44, 46, 48 Where the worm dieth not and the fire not quenched
There are many believe that hell could very much be in the center of the earth’s core. There have been some who drills deep down into the earth and has discovered a point where it is too hot for any bit to drill and in some of those hot locations there is a type of worm (devil worm) that are able to survive the heat that would consume a man. Maybe this is what Jesus meant when He said where the worm dieth not.
See: Numbers 16:32-35 Those 250 people that were swallowed up into the earth and consumed by fire.
Firemen story of burning flesh: The stench of burning flesh is a smell like none other.
See: Isaiah 66:24 For the worm dieth not…an abhorring unto all flesh
You may say unto me why should I believe in such a place exists? The same reason why almost everyone believes in a place call heaven.
The right answer is the Bible says so amongst the other already proven facts!
2. The Uncompassionate Or Compassionate Believer
Psalms 142:4 The psalmist says no man care for my soul
What we do this week and the rest of our lives will be a demonstration of our compassion for unsaved facing the judgment of hell.
Mention: Luke 10:30-37 Which one of these three Is us?
Also: Mark 2 The four men bearing the one. Jesus saw their faith
Mention: Acts 20:26 Paul indicates that the blood of men is upon our hands
See: Jude 22-23 And some having compassion making a difference and some save with fear pulling them out of the fire.
With this verse in mind are not we Missionaries and Christians spiritual firemen saving people from their unseen reality of hell?
Mention: 2 Cor. 5:11 Knowing the terror of the Lord we persuade men
We have several means in which we can follow:
a. Go
b. Give
c. Get on our knees
Point: God commands us to do all three!
3. The Unbeliever
John 3:19-20 There are those who loved darkness rather than light
Mention: Matt. 25:1-13 Those who procrastinate believing perhaps they have time
Matt. 7:21-23 those who are religious but lost
4. The Unconditional Love Of God
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love us…
Jesus not only warned of hell, but He also paid every man’s way out!
Man now has a choice to Reject or Repent, Blaspheme or Believe which will be yours?
