5 Ways Your Brain Is Messing With Your Head
Your brain lies to you all the time, “For Your Own Good” and you don’t even know it
#5. Change Blindness
• It's your inability to notice changes that happen right in front of you, even if they're hugely obvious... as long as you don't see the actual change take place. Kind of like remembering people as they were 20, 40, 50 years ago even though you may see them periodically – you see the person you want to see.
#4. Saccadic Masking
• It's the 40 or so minutes per day that you're effectively blind.
• IF you were to quickly look at the wall to your left. When you flicked your eyes over there, for just a moment, you were blind. And you didn't even know it.
Why Does the Brain Lie About it?
• Ever watch a movie that gave you motion sickness, due to the camera whipping around too fast? This is what has some people getting sick during movies that use the "shaky handheld camera" gimmick. Your brain doesn't like those rapid, blurry changes in vision and so it blinds you for those moments.
#3. Proprioception
• It's your brain's map of your body. Your sense of proprioception is your brain's ability to sense where your limbs are.
• This is how you can put a sandwich in your mouth while your eyes are focused on the TV. Your brain knows where your hand is in relation to your face, thanks to proprioception. What’s important about this is that it is the 1st brain function to go when you are inebriated.
#2. Cryptomnesia
• It's sometimes called subconscious plagiarism. It's what happens when your brain takes someone else's ideas and experiences and makes you believe it is your own.
• Among the many things your brain isn't good at is correctly remembering where your ideas come from.
• Cryptomnesia happens when your brain finds a really good idea, but doesn't bother remembering that, oh, yeah, it's not yours.
Why Does the Brain Lie About it?
• Because when you really need to or want to remember something – your brain makes the experience so real that you think that you are the originator.
#1. Subconscious Behavior aka Best Guessing
• There is evidence that your brain makes predictions (oftentimes incredibly bad ones) about what's either happening or about to happen in the future.
• Once your brain has a good idea of what it thinks is about to happen, it acts on that prediction. AND it acts before you've made a conscious choice to act, either by moving parts of your body, or just by altering your perception.
Why Does the Brain Lie About it?
• Our brains aren't good at coping with entirely unexpected situations.
• We deal with almost everything that happens to us by comparing ongoing events with past experiences, mostly in our subconscious. Our minds pay much more attention to comparisons with past experiences than they do with the events facing you at any given moment.
• It’s what makes you THINK you can do things that you have never done before – but – you’ve seen someone else do…
Your Brain Is Messing With Your Head
The devil loves to make a playground out of people’s minds and imaginations.
He gets his kicks by filling peoples perceptions and senses with illusions that captivate them, paralyze them, and ultimately destroy them. He’s Messing with your head!
But this is nothing compared to the job we do on ourselves. We talk ourselves out of more blessings and into more failures than even the devil does. YOU are messing with your head.
Mark 11:23 is a powerful verse about faith and confession that believers claim and use around the world. But the principle in this verse works both in a positive and negative sense - or to put it another way, this principle works both in the realm of God and in the realm of the devil.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
The enemy knows if he can fill your mind and heart with lies that you believe and then coax you into confessing those lies with your mouth, you will make those evil images come to pass in your life!
That is exactly why the devil wants to fill your mind with lies and accusations.
That’s why he assaults your mind and emotions again and again. He knows he just has to get you to embrace these lies and to start believing them.
Now your mountains control YOU – instead of you moving your mountains.
Every day, people are speaking to their mountains.
They are saying what they really believe.
They are saying things like,
• “I am never going to get out of debt!
• My husband’s drinking problem is getting worse!
• My wife is not gonna tell me the truth!
• My kids are out of control! They won’t listen to a word I say!
• My job is getting worse and worse with every day!
• I am afraid that I am going to lose everything that I have!
• This pain is killing me!
People are speaking to their mountains of debt, relationships, family, jobs, sickness and problems on a daily basis.
And they do NOT DOUBT that what they are saying is TRUE!
So, what they are saying “will happen and will be done for them!”
That is right, everyday you’ve been speaking to your mountains and have been for quite some time.
Jesus told us in Mark 11:23 about the Law of The Kingdom of God of speaking, not doubting and believing what you are saying and it will be done.
This Law WORKS IF YOU ARE SPEAKING LIFE OR DEATH,
• PROSPERITY OR POVERTY,
• LACK OR MORE THAN ENOUGH,
• PEACE OR TROUBLE,
• FAVOR OR RUIN,
• SUCCESS OR FAILURE,
• SICKNESS OR HEALTH.
As we speak to our mountains it GROWS, MOVES and with every word spoken to it, it gets THICKER, TALLER and DEEPER!
And as our words make the mountains develop, we believe in it and what we are telling others about it more and more!
Therefore, we are believing and not doubting that our mountain will never go away or change for the better or good!
Church what side of this Law of The Kingdom of God are you on?
Because whatever you and I are saying to and about our mountains . . . we are getting.
1. Are you speaking, not doubting and believing for the bad or for the better in your life?
2. Are you speaking, not doubting and believing towards that mountain, hope or hopelessness?
3. Are you making the mountain move for the better or for the worse?
See, you have been following this Law of The Kingdom all along and it has been for your good or for your bad.
Your decision right now to begin to speak LIFE, JOY, FREEDOM, PROSPERITY, GOODNESS, PEACE, FAVOR, and HEALTH to your mountains, begins with your statement of faith!
Paul said: [the only way we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God;
[is] we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
Taking your thoughts captive is going to require determination and energy.
But it takes one more thing – OBEDIENCE
JESUS SAID: if you abide in My Word and My Word abides in you – you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.
No magic formula – only OBEDIENCE to Christ
1. “Believe that I am He”
a. that God has given Him to be the payment for our sins by His death on Calvary’s cross
2. and the vessel for our forgiveness
a. for by His stripes, we are healed
3. Trust that Christ has given you the power over all
Once you made the decision trust Jesus, you still have to stick with that decision.
If you’re not really committed to trusting Jesus Christ, the devil’s gonna see you as a liar just like him.
If you’re not really committed to seizing every thought the devil tries to inject into your mind and emotions, he’ll be back to strike you again and again.
And if you don’t stop the enemy’s thoughts from invading your mind, it won’t be long until your faith begins to empower those thoughts and they become a bona fide reality in your life!
