THE ANOINTING FOR DIVINE CONSOLIDATION
Study Text: Luke 4:18-19
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
- The anointing today comes through the person of the Holy Spirit.
- So, if you want to experience divine consolidation in your life, you need to release yourself for a healthy fellowship with the Holy Spirit because He is the originator of the anointing.
- The anointing is in the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit dwells in our spirit, so we all have the anointing within us already. 1 John 2: 20,27
- The anointing is not for a selected few. As long as we have the Holy Spirit, then we have the anointing.
- We shall discuss this topic under 3 sub-headings.

1. Describing The Anoiting
- This anointing is God’s ability to fulfill the purpose that He has ordained or called each one of us into.
- There is a purpose for every church and for every Christian. God does not create or call people for the fun of it. But God has a purpose for everyone.
- It is possible that some people have not discovered the purpose or the calling of God in their lives. However, that does not mean that God did not have a purpose for such people.
- The anointing is the grace that God made available unto us in order to be able to achieve that purpose and that calling that He has called us into. Acts 10: 38
- This anointing is by the grace of God. It is not something that we can earn or buy. It is totally a gift of God. Acts 8: 18 – 22.
- The Converted Magician attempted to buy the anointing, but his action was greatly condomned by the apostle.
- The anointing is the hand of God upon a natural man that will make him to do supernatural things. In 1Sam 17:34-37.
- David was able to kill the lion and the bear because the anointing of God was upon him.
2. Divine Consolidation by The Anoiting:
- The anointing will enable a man to do so many things he could not do or make it easier for him to do. It will bring about divine consolidation in our lives by enabling us :
i. To be able to discern truth - 1 John 2:27, and to testify of the truth - 1 John 5:6
ii. To be able to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. . . "
- Rom. 8:39 "and Ephesians 6:18.
iii. To Live a righteous life and please God in all our convesations - Romans 8:4
iv. To be strengthened with power in your inner being - Ephesians 3:16, and to be led by God
- Romans 8:9 .
v. To live in joy - Romans 14:17 and to live in hope - Romans 15:13.
vi. To receive spiritual gifts - 1 Corinthians 12:4 and to bear spiritual fruit - Galatians 5:22-23
- It is this anointing that opens your mind, teaches you, guides you, calls you to pray, empowers you, and enables you to be stronger Christians, more powerful Christians. Not just people who are saved, but people who are saved, indwelt, and empowered.
3. Destroying The Anoiting:
- There are certain things we need to deal with and disallowed in our lives if if must receive and maitain the anointing. They include:
1. A critical spirit
- There's nothing that will kill a church or a revival faster than a critical spirit getting into the hearts and minds of a congregation. There's nothing that will kill a family more than a critical spirit.
- We need to be careful about the things that we say so that we will only be building people and not tearing them apart.We need to be positive about:--our family--our church--our pastors and leaders and --our outlook in life.
- Why? Because criticism can destroy the anointing!
2. Marital problems
- Not just the normal day to day misunderstandings( that's normal even in the best of marriages), but the extreme arguing, bitterness, and anger against one another. Malachi 2:15
- Take heed to your spirit! Why did the prophet say this? Because if you mistreat and disrespect your spouse, it will destroy the anointing on your lives
- You can't even pray when things like this happen. 1 Peter 3:7 "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered."
- We must deal with the spirit of unforgiveness in our lives to be able to have marittal harmony.
3. Depression (lack of joy) Phil 4: 6-7
- If you're walking around and always seeing the bad in life, then it will destroy the anointing in your life. We should cultivate real joy in our lives by praising God for every situations and by trusting Him for His interventions.
4. Pride and stubbornness
- 1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV) "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…"
- We are instructed to follow after the humility of Jesus because pride, stubbornnes and arogannce will pull a man down and destroy the anointing in his life.
5. Unrighteousness
- All forms of sexual sins, and all kind of unrighteous and ungodly behaviour will grieve the Holy Spirit and will destroy the anointing in a man’s life.
- Samson lost the anointing because of sexual sins and ungodly behaviour.
Conclusion:
- If you have received the anointing, you need to cherish and jealously guide it, lest you loose it. This is because, when you walk in the anointing, yokes will be destroyed.
- David, with the anointing defeated the giant called Goliath, and Paul, with the anointing cast out devils
Acts 16:17-18 (KJV) "The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation. (18) And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour."
- Peter with the anointing preached and 3,000 got saved and Jesus with the anointing fed the five thousand, raised the dead, healed the sick, cleansed the lepers,opened blind eyes, walked on water and came out of the grave on the third day!
- By the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we can do a lot of great exploits in our generation today for the kingdom of God.
- It is my heartfelt prayer unto God, that He will give us anointed churches, preachers, teachers and Christians in general.
