Guard the door!
Nehemiah 7:1”Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed..”
I have some wonderful things to talk to you from this chapter!
All is not over after the wedding bell rings! All is not over with the receipt of your breath-taking appointment letter with all the fabulous salary package! All is not over with the birth of that miracle baby! All is not over with the completion of your dream home! All is not over after you step out with the degree certificate! All is not over after a phenomenal success of a prayer meeting that had swelling crowd! What next? Cover it with prayer for protection and growth! Are you listening? A wise and spiritually brilliant man would do so. Chapter seven of the book of Nehemiah starts with saying: “Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors..” Oh, yes, we got to set up the doors! Listen carefully today!
After two hours of sitting at His feet, God spoke the above scripture to me; I held the scripture close to my heart and asked God to exactly tell me how am I to guard the door! The above scripture gives us the answer: regular, dedicated worship for God and a cautious and vigilant heart committed to prayer is the strength of the wall! I am not talking about physical strength of the wall, I am talking about God guarding your wall! Each time China was invaded by the enemies, it was through the great wall of China – no wall is great, except it be guard by God.
It is day 39 of our 40 days of fasting! It is the right time to hear this message! We got to protect our home, kids, family, finances, ministry, business from the onslaught of the enemy. Be proactive rather than cry after you are attacked! We live in a day of profanity and vulgarity. Most TV and movies today are not just laced but filled with such obscenity to the brim. Check out what your children are up to and you be far away from such crap. If you are some way connected with the ministry of God, be it youth leader, prayer cell leader, helper – whatever, you got to be extra careful because you are in the ‘hit list.’ This is to caution you and not scare you! Look what Nehemiah says: "Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot. And while they are still standing guard, let them shut and bar the doors.” (Nehemiah 7:3) To take care that they should not be opened in the morning till they could see that all was clear and quiet.
The latter part of the scripture is ace! Observe! Verse 4 –‘The city was wide and large, but the people within it were few, and no houses had been rebuilt.’ Did you get that? There was nothing big deal inside the city though it was big and vast, in order to make such a big fuss over it! The scripture says, ‘the people were few and the house were still in ruins’ – not yet rebuilt; nevertheless, hear me say this, Nehemiah built the wall looking ahead to the promise of God who said I will fill this city with people and laughter! Hallelujah! God would fill your life too with mirth and joy! Read: Zechariah 8:5 “And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.”
I would like to encourage you to pray hard and fill your homes and life with thanksgiving and hymns of praise! This is the door of protection! The overpriced, branded locks that seals your trust in your absence may not live up to its expectation. Beware!
