In a 2008 USA Today article it says that in a survey taken the majority of people 65% say eternal life is not exclusively for those who accept Christ.
The world view today is that anyone and everyone will be saved no matter who they are, what they do, or who are what they believe in.
The suggested view of today is that all will be saved!!
Is that belief true?
Many people think that most everyone will be saved. All it takes is being a good person; all it takes is showing up at a church, all it takes is throwing an extra twenty in the plate. They think most everyone will make it to heaven.
Look that’s just not true, as much as it pains me to say it but everyone will not make it to heaven.
I’m not one to sugar coat anything but if you believe everyone will get to heaven, you’re fooling yourself. Now everyone has the same opportunity to get there but not everyone will take that road.
Will everyone make it to Heaven? Let’s look at the text today where Jesus was asked a similar question that’s recorded in
Luke 13:23-24 - Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
Did you get that Many will try to enter and will not be able to. In the book of Matthew chapter 7 Jesus says “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.
Think about this throughout the history of the Bible when great destruction occurred and salvation was afforded only a few were saved.
The great flood way back in the time of Genesis only 8 souls were saved Noah and his wife Shem, Ham, & Japheth and their wives.
Only Lot and his two daughters were saved at the destruction Sodom and Gomorrah
Only 2 men over the age of twenty survived to see the promised land of Canaan (Joshua & Caleb).
It’s sad but true. There will be people who will not go to heaven. Let me reiterate what Jesus said in Matthew Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life and few will find it.
Look there are many people in the world that will tell you that all the religious people will be saved it doesn’t matter what you believe or what you do just have a good time everybody is gonna go to heaven.
Let me tell you something, they are wrong. Let people keep believing that way, let them keep living by the if it feels good do it philosophy. Keep believing that science or the almighty dollar is gonna get you there, keep on believing that it doesn’t matter what you believe or do. Keep believing that way and you will be like the rich man who cried out FATHER ABRAHAM I BEG YOU LET LAZARUS DIP HIS FINGER IN SOME WATER AND COME AND COOL MY TONGUE!!!!
As Christians we know better we know what Jesus taught us about salvation and being saved
Jesus told us “I am the way the truth and the life No one comes to The Father but through me.”
Remember what Paul and Silas said to the jailer that asked what to do to be saved they said “Believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved”
Being religious is not enough, going through the motions is not enough, filling a pew is not enough, and you cannot truly be a Christian if you believe that salvation can be found outside of Christ.
Not only do you need to believe you need to be obedient Jesus had a warning for those who didn’t obey the will of God He said “
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? 'Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
That tells me we not only have to talk the talk but we have to walk the walk.
Look it isn’t just enough for you to believe you have got to confess and accept and bear some good fruit.
Even some who believe won’t be saved because they will be unwilling to confess that Jesus is Lord.
I have known people that believed in Christ but wouldn’t repent or accept His mercy and grace they wouldn’t confess for one reason or another. I’ll do it later, I’ve got plenty of time, I’ll do it when I get my life straightened out. And they died believing without ever accepting Christ as their savior.
One thing I know for sure is this God is merciful and just and desires that all be saved.
Everyone has the capability and the opportunity for salvation but not everyone will accept it and that’s sad.
Being saved is your responsibility; it requires action on your part, stop believing that garbage that the world says about everyone going to heaven because it’s just not true.
There is only one way to the Kingdom and that is through Jesus Christ our savior who died for our sins.
Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to The Father except through Me.
Don’t put it off, the debt has been paid. Don’t wait till you get cleaned up Let Christ clean you from the inside out , don’t wait till you get older cause you may not , the time is now.
Not everyone will make it to heaven but you can if you just confess to Christ and accept Him as your savior.
How sad it will be to those who hear the words depart from me I never knew you. All because they thought everyone would get to Heaven.
God loves each and every one of us and we can tell how much in John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son so that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.
Whosoever, that means you.
