VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. Evening came on
"And when evening came on,"
Mark 11:11 (Amplified Bible)
11:11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and entered the temple [enclosure]; and when He had looked around, surveying and observing everything, as it was already late, He went out to Bethany together with the Twelve [apostles].
Luke 21:37 (Amplified Bible)
21:37 Now in the daytime Jesus was teaching in [the porches and courts of] the temple, but at night He would go out and stay on the mount called Olivet.
John 12:36 (Amplified Bible)
12:36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view].
They have 12 hours instead of us having 24 hours. It was late in the day. It was a Monday night.
B. He and his disciples
"He and His disciples, as accustomed,"
JESUS and His disciples together as always. A good leader is followed by people, or His followers.
Matthew 5:1 (Amplified Bible)
5:1 SEEING THE crowds, He went up on the mountain; and when He was seated, His disciples came to Him.
John 21:14 (Amplified Bible)
21:14 This was now the third time that Jesus revealed Himself (appeared, was manifest) to the disciples after He had risen from the dead.
JESUS's disciples always follow the LORD JESUS wherever He is, and also even after His Ascension, they were always together with Him.
Disciple - a learner, a pupil, a disciple, learned, taught, used, accustomed. They are nothing without a good teacher.
The disciples, being a student, studies the testimony, law, and teaching.
Isaiah 8:16 (Amplified Bible)
8:16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law and the teaching among my [Isaiah’s] disciples.
Mark 4:34 (Amplified Bible)
4:34 He did not tell them anything without a parable; but privately to His disciples (those who were peculiarly His own) He explained everything [fully].
Matthew 13:11-12 (Amplified Bible)
13:11 And He replied to them, To you it has been given to know the secrets and mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
13:12 For whoever has [spiritual knowledge], to him will more be given and he will be furnished richly so that he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
C. They went out of the city
"went out of the city."
He went out of Jerusalem going into Bethany.
It's like your residence is in another city, but still JESUS needs to recharge Himself by praying alone often times at Mount of Olives, and recharge via food offered to Him in Bethany by Mary, Lazarus and Martha.
Mark 11:11 (Amplified Bible)
11:11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and entered the temple [enclosure]; and when He had looked around, surveying and observing everything, as it was already late, He went out to Bethany together with the Twelve [apostles].
IX. CONCLUSION:
The LORD JESUS is always with us as our Teacher and Guide, even coming in and out of the city.
