Just Do It!
Mark 16:15 NKJ
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 MSG
1-3. I don’t think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master’s coming can’t be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody’s walking around complacently, congratulating each other—“We’ve sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman.
4-8. But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand. So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation.
9-11. God didn’t set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.
So speak encouraging words to one another, Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.
Are we doing this? And if were not, why not?
I was thinking, there have been a lot of people that I, or for that matter, all of us have known throughout the years,
that once were faithfully serving Christ and in the church, telling others about the gospel message, making a difference for the Kingdom of God,
That haven't attended a service, or been to church in years.
So many, who were once alive and vibrant for The Lord, now as TBS. just sleepwalking through life, in a unconscious state of mind, occupied with everything else, but what they were called to do!
TBS. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance
A lot of people would like to believe that, that would only include pastors or evangelist, but the fact is that we have all been called, or chosen to do the Lords work and it happened, the moment we said I Believe!
1 Peter 2:9-12 MSG
9-10 But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
11-12 Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives.
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is one of the most repeated teachings in all of Scripture
Paul was well aware of this and he explained his readers should also be aware that Jesus was coming again.
As a matter of fact, he told them that he shouldn’t even have to tell them again. It should be obvious.
Illus. It is kind of like the story of a tourist driving through West Texas who stopped at a gas station and observed a piece of rope dangling from a sign labeled "Weather Forecaster."
"How can you possibly tell the weather with a piece of rope?" the tourist wanted to know.
"It’s simple, sonny,"
"When the rope swings back and forth, it’s windy,
when it gets wet, it’s raining,
when it’s frozen stiff, it’s snowing and cold,
and when it’s gone... tornado!"
There are simply some things that should be obvious without even asking. The imminent return of Jesus Christ is one of those things.
With such a joyous event on the horizon, one that no one in their right or wrong mind, would want to miss,
How's come, there's been such a falling away from the calling and the church, even just the mere mention of His name?
It's because, they have been lied to, by the accuser over and over, until they have believed the lie!
And the lie is, that they will find happiness, in self gratification!
Have you ever heard this one, If it feels good, just do it?
That's a pretty broad paint brush for life, huh?
2 Timothy 3:1-5 MSG
1-5. Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people.
Everyone of those things, is evident in society today
It's like the old "mission impossible series" from the 60's
You know, where they would get the instructions for their mission and then came the warning, this tape will self destruct in 5 seconds and it does!
We'll we have been given our instructions and we have also been given, a very real and detailed warning, this world as we know it could self destruct, at any time, without any advanced notice!
Thank goodness, no thank God, we who know Him won't be here and wont be around, when it does!
For everybody else, who thinks that they have all the time in the world,
The question is not "if Jesus will return?" but "when will he return?"
Paul answered this question by basically saying, "No one knows." He explained this by describing the time of Jesus return as a thief in the night.
Just as a thief comes without any warning, thats how the coming of the Son of God, will be!
Jesus Himself said in Matt. 24:36-44 MSG
36 “But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.
37-39 “The Arrival of the Son of Man will take place in times like Noah’s. Before the great flood everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time right up to the day Noah boarded the ark. They knew nothing—until the flood hit and swept everything away.
39-44 “The Son of Man’s Arrival will be like that: Two men will be working in the field—one will be taken, one left behind; two women will be grinding at the mill—one will be taken, one left behind. So stay awake, alert. You have no idea what day your Master will show up. But you do know this: You know that if the homeowner had known what time of night the burglar would arrive, he would have been there with his dogs to prevent the break-in. Be vigilant just like that. You have no idea when the Son of Man is going to show up.
Now, is clearly not the time, to be doing your own thing, on the calendar of events that's getting ready to transpire,
If we haven't been telling everyone we know about Jesus up until this point, don't you think it's about time, we started telling them before its to late, to tell them?
If you don't think what you know isn't all that important and is just irrelevant, you better think again,
What you know, however jumbled up it comes out of your mouth, could determine where someone else spends eternity! Amen?
The old chorus says....
Go, Tell It On The Mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere;
Go, Tell It On The Mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.
Notice that it doesn't say....memorize the bible and then do it....read 17 self help books about overcoming the fear of talking to someone else and then do it.....
Wait until there's a sign, or until your old and grey and then do it!
No, it simple says to do it and to do it, everywhere you go
Illus. George Sweeting, in his book The No-Guilt Guide for Witnessing, tells of a man by the name of John Currier who in 1949 was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Later he was transferred and paroled to work on a farm near Nashville, Tennessee.
In 1968, Currier’s sentence was terminated, and a letter bearing the good news was sent to him. But John never saw the letter, nor was he told anything about it. Life on that farm was hard and without promise for the future. Yet John kept doing what he was told even after the farmer for whom he worked had died.
Ten years went by. Then a state parole officer learned about Currier’s plight, found him, and told him that his sentence had been terminated. He was a free man.
Sweeting concluded that story by asking, “Would it matter to you if someone sent you an important message—the most important in your life—and year after year the urgent message was never delivered?”
Illus. There was an extensive survey conducted in the United States by a leading polling agency.
Questionnaires were distributed to people of various ages and occupations. The key question was this: What are you looking for most in life?
When the results were compiled, the analysts were surprised.
Most of them had expected answers that would suggest materialistic goals, but the top three things that people wanted in life were love, joy, and peace—the first three fruits of the Spirit!
We already know the source, where everything and so much more the whole world is looking for can be found, all we have to do is come together in unity and proclaim it, until He returns to call us home!
And I say in unity, because if we join together in our evangelism, there is not anything that we can't do and accomplish, for Gods Kingdom! Amen?
Lets pray, lets pray the prayer of unity, the prayer of Jabez, only lets make it personnel and lets agree to pray it and pray it often,
Until the day of all days, and He returns for all those who have made Him, The Lord of their lives!
Insert your name....And "________" called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
*my family
*my church
*my friends
*my business
*my everything that ever will be....
and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!”
And don't forget to proclaim it, with your mouth....because your words, possess so much power, over your life!
And God granted, insert your name..."______" what he, or she requested!
Amen?
Do you receive it today?
Now go and share what you have received, with gladness in your heart and get ready to witness God, start to do amazing things with your life and in your church! Praise God!
