Text: Revelation 5:4-12

Introduction

1. 60 years!

2. Pause.

3. It seemed hard to believe. But, it had been 60 years since that fateful day When John the son on Zebedee a man who ran a fishing business on the Sea of Galilee had first been called by Jesus to be one of his twelve apostles.

Matthew 4:18-22 (ESV) 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

1 John 1:4 (ESV) 4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

1 John 2:1 (ESV) 1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

1 John 5:13 (ESV) 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
