“From where does my help come” in Hebrew is ‘from where does my עֶזְרִי come from." This is the same word used in Genesis when God creates Eve to be a כנגדו עזר/ a ‘help mate’ for Adam.

We all need help.
Adam was created by God, formed from the dust of the ground and given the breath of life and he needed help… So God gave him a help-mate.
Adam and Eve where created into an ideal surrounding, with no sin and all provision… And they fell into sin. They needed help. So God gave them the Genesis 3:15 promise.
They were created into a perfect situation; and they both needed God’s help.
We were born into less than perfect situation; and we most certainly need God’s help.
The fact is that any of us in this room today are potential fornicators, liars, drunkards, adulterers, or even murders and could be guilty of ever evil work of the flesh; except by the Grace (help) of God!
It has become popular today to term sin as disease and sickness rather than sin. Thereby, moving it from the realm of religion, curing a sinful soul by the blood of Christ to a sick mind being cured by medical science.
It has also become popular today to use the Recovery Model. That is to say: “recovery” – meaning lifetime recovery. In other words, once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic; once a drunkard, always a drunkard; once a gambler, always a gambler; etc.
However the Apostle Paul said in I Corinthians 6:9-11 “9- Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10- Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11- And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

God warns against depending on the arm of flesh (man’s remedies):
Isaiah 31:1,3 “1- Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD. 3- But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble, those who are helped will fall; all will perish together.” –NIV

II Timothy 2:8-9 “8- Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9- Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.”
Our help comes from the Word of God, for it is not bound!
Jesus is the Word incarnate.
And in Luke 13 He told the little women who had been bound by a spirit of infirmity for 18 years, “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.”
