"Nor discontentedly complain"
Grumblers are judged in the old covenant.
Exodus 15:24 (Amplified Bible)
The people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
Numbers 14:29 (Amplified Bible)
Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness—of all who were numbered of you, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against Me,
James 5:9 (Amplified Bible)
Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you [yourselves] may not be judged. Look! The Judge is [already] standing at the very door.
Examples of grumbling:
John 6:43 (Amplified Bible)
So Jesus answered them, Stop grumbling and saying things against Me to one another.
So grumbling means like the LORD JESUS CHRIST have defined it, "saying things against GOD to one another" with a complaining attitude not representing the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
1 Peter 4:9 (Amplified Bible)
Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). [Be hospitable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Christ’s body.] And [in each instance] do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him).
Grumblers are complainers, murmurers who complain about their lot in life, going after their own desires, they talk boastfully and arrogantly, they flatter people by compliments to gain advantage.
Jude 1:16 (Amplified Bible)
These are inveterate murmurers (grumblers) who complain [of their lot in life], going after their own desires [controlled by their passions]; their talk is boastful and arrogant, [and they claim to] admire men’s persons and pay people flattering compliments to gain advantage, they are a brother to faultfinders.
That's why, I make it a habit to stay from people who flatters, if not pray for it that the LORD will not lead you into their path.
Psalms 5:8-9 (Amplified Bible)
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.
For there is nothing trustworthy or steadfast or truthful in their talk; their heart is destruction [or a destructive chasm, a yawning gulf]; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter and make smooth with their tongue.
Romans 3:13 (Amplified Bible)
Their throat is a yawning grave; they use their tongues to deceive (to mislead and to deal treacherously). The venom of asps is beneath their lips.
B. Some of them did in the Old covenant
"as some of them did"
Not only in the old covenant but also in the New covenant, grumblers or murmurers are condemned.
Complaining or arguing or being resentful is a grumblers favorite attitudes.
Proverbs 19:3 (Amplified Bible)
The foolishness of man subverts his way [ruins his affairs]; then his heart is resentful and frets against the Lord.
Lamentations 3:39 (Amplified Bible)
Why does a living man sigh [one who is still in this life’s school of discipline]? [And why does] a man complain for the punishment of his sins?
John 6:43 (Amplified Bible)
So Jesus answered them, Stop grumbling and saying things against Me to one another.
Philippians 2:14 (Amplified Bible)
Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves],
Grumbling and murmurings are corrected thru prayer and fasting.
Psalms 35:13 (Amplified Bible)
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting, and I prayed with head bowed on my breast.
Acts 13:2 (Amplified Bible)
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Separate now for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
Acts 14:23 (Amplified Bible)
And when they had appointed and ordained elders for them in each church with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in Whom they had come to believe [being full of joyful trust that He is the Christ, the Messiah].
Because we train our physical bodies to be committed to the spiritual acts for the LORD JESUS CHRIST without eating that is humbling ourselves and surrendering it to the LORD JESUS CHRIST who holds our emotions intact.
Proverbs 29:11 (God's Word)
A fool expresses all his emotions, but a wise person controls them.
2 Corinthians 6:12 (God's Word)
We haven't cut you off. Your own emotions have cut you off {from us}.
Philippians 3:19 (God's Word)
In the end they will be destroyed. Their own emotions are their god, and they take pride in the shameful things they do. Their minds are set on worldly things.
... yet emotions are a very powerful tool in us to express our praises and worship to the LORD.
Philippians 4:7 (God's Word)
Then God's peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.
C. They were killed by the destroying angel
"—and were put out of the way entirely by the destroyer (death)"
It's a consequence, people who let their emotions rule them invites death (destruction) in their lives.
Your negative emotions will carry you away to turn against GOD.
Job 15:12-13 (God's Word)
Why have your emotions carried you away? Why do your eyes flash
when you turn against God and spit these words out of your mouth?
A fool is someone who lets his emotions get the best of him.
Proverbs 29:11 (God's Word)
A fool expresses all his emotions, but a wise person controls them.
Your negative emotions can also cut you off from a good relationship with the church leaders and church workers.
2 Corinthians 6:12 (God's Word)
We haven't cut you off. Your own emotions have cut you off {from us}.
Letting your emotions control you only means you are an idolater as well.
Philippians 3:19 (God's Word)
In the end they will be destroyed. Their own emotions are their god, and they take pride in the shameful things they do. Their minds are set on worldly things.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Thank the LORD JESUS CHRIST for His Peace, GOD'S PEACE and He Himself will guard our thoughts and emotions through CHRIST JESUS
Philippians 4:7 (God's Word)
Then God's peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.
