ANOINTED FOR A NEW BEGINNING

Ruth was a widow who performed hard labor every day of her life in extremely hot weather conditions in order to survive. Her workplace was very hostile as she scraped food together which the reapers discarded on the ground. This must have been very humiliating and degrading for this beautiful woman.

But are we any different today, as we put in long hours every day, often working two jobs in order to survive? I am sure that is not God’s best for His beautiful Bride.

Naomi was her mother-in-law and when Ruth’s husband died, she decided to follow Naomi, who eventually spoke a prophetic word over her life. That caused Ruth to discover who she really was, because God had chosen her to birth the seed of King David and Jesus. Ruth played a pivotal role in ensuring that God the Son was birthed in the flesh.

Once she discovered what God planned for her life, she immediately followed the instructions given to her by Naomi.

Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. – Ruth 3:3

Ruth did three things to prepare her for her journey.

1. She washed herself

This signifies what believers need to do by dealing with sin and parting with the past.

2. She anointed herself

This signifies how important it is to receive a fresh measure of God’s Spirit upon our lives. Some theologians believe that the anointing is similar to applying make-up which reveals hidden beauty and hides ugly marks and scars.

3. She put on the best dress

This meant she had to discard her previous garments of mourning which signifies a new future and a new hope.

Ruth’s agenda changed completely as she began pursuing her dream, who was Boaz. It may have seemed to the natural eye that she was chasing after a man, but he represented God’s plan for her which meant she was chasing after God. All her financial problems ended within 24 hours once she discovered who she was and what God wanted her to do.

From that day onwards, Ruth no longer worked in the fields and was comfortably provided for by her very rich husband. When she obeyed the call, God provided all her needs.

History shows the fruit of her obedience. Through their relationship, David was born, as well as the Messiah. Boaz and Ruth are two of the most famous people in Biblical history, as their obedience affected tens of generations of kings of Israel as well as the King of kings, Jesus.

It is important to associate with the right people. Ruth’s decision to turn her back on the worldly Moabites and to follow after a righteous woman was the key to her discovering the secrets for her life.

Being faithful to the anointing on your life will ensure success in your ministry as well as in every other area of your life.
