Summary: A sermonette of responce to the testimony of Major Campbell Robert’s call to a social ministry that has had him interact with the community from those in need on the street to the nations leaders.

Fulfilment: A summery sermonette of Major Campbell Robert’s testimony.

We come here weekly with the desire to meet with God and to meet with one another. When I first heard Major Campbell’s testimony I was moved by the compassion that he had for people.

We live in a world of people who are deceived, deceived (pp Rev 12:9) by a spiritual enemy, deceived by the things of the world. Jesus has told us that (pp Mark 1:15) the Kingdom of God is near; Jesus told us that (pp Matt 5:17) He is the fulfilment of the law, Jesus has told us that (pp Acts 1:8) we will receive power from on high…His Holy Spirit.

Why?

In part so that we can live a life of freedom, a life of living in the light of His grace.

But!

It’s not all about us, this is now our opportunity to reveal what God has done of us, to a community of people walking day to day, living day to day, struggling without an understanding of God’s love for them. People making do for the next thing that might bring them some joy, the next thing that might bring them some fulfilment…because in existing without the hope we have in Jesus, their living is limited.

They exist without the openness of a fulfilled relationship with God. I recently had someone ask me is this life a test to see if we are fit for heaven? The answer is no!

What is it then?

This life is about a relationship…a relationship of fulfilment, a fulfilling relationship. A fulfilled life, but a life that like so many will come with its trials and persecutions.

But!

A life of relationship with the most High God who fulfils our desire to be understood, who pours out His love so that we don’t have to live in the judgement of living in our pasts. We come into a relationship with God who empowers us with spiritual fruits and gifts, who empowers us to do the work of His Kingdom.

Those of us that live in this relationship, are then free to act, indeed we have a commitment to act… we have a mandate to share the good news, to give away what has been freely given to us, to share it with the glum faced, those who are on the margins, those with empty eyes, to the people of our community of this city of Dunedin living without hope.

People who do not know that they can be fulfilled in Christ, we are free to preach the good news at all times in our words and in our actions! A relationship of Love and freedom awaits, a fulfilled life awaits.

Jesus said this, (pp) “All things have been committed to me by the Father. No one knows the son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke [my teaching: Moffatt paraphrase] upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke [my teaching, my way of living: Moffatt paraphrase] is easy and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:27-30)

It is time to act! Time to share the good news! Time to accept the good news! You may be moved to commit to, engaging in or engaging God’s word... to sharing it or accepting it and the fulfilling relationship that it brings. If so etc

If you have just read this sermon, have a great and fulfilling day!
