He Lives In Me.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
During Easter the egg is always a symbol of new life in Jesus. When we ask Christ into our hearts our old self should die with Jesus on the cross and old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
I’m sure you have heard the question, “what came first the chicken or the egg?” my answer is the chicken because God created the chicken. So did the chicken give life to the egg? No, of course not God gives life….all life belongs to Him.
A Mother carries a baby for 9 months but, does the Mother give life?......No, God does....all life belongs to Him.
OK, now we agree that all life belongs to God. Now, when God gives life to humans, we are born with body, soul and spirit. The body is the flesh; the soul is our character or personality and then there is our spirit, the main ingredient for eternal life. The spirit is eternal, our soul or who we are lives forever in the spirit either with God our separated from God. God is a spirit.
The spirit is what was saved when we believed and trusted Jesus…..it was moved from being separated forever from God and thrown into Hell at judgment day to being born again so to speak by the Holy Spirit that now lives in each of those who receive Him into the family of God never to be separated from Him.
The body was not saved although it will be changed into a glorified body at our resurrection. Our soul or our personality should transform because our spirit belongs to God now.
Last Friday morning I read Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. When we receive the Holy Spirit at the moment we ask Jesus into our hearts we should submit to its cleaning of the mind….to its (renewing) that’s the reason many don’t change their ways, they still live as though they never see the spirit of God that lives within them. Some only see their flesh and who they are as a person but, never see Gods spirit.
When we understand who we are in spirit then we began to understand what Jesus did for us in what we call Easter.
Jesus said in John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
As long as we are in the flesh we will never be what God totally wants us to be because no one can go without sinning or breaking the ten commandants or what the Bible calls the law. If we could live without sinning then Paul said in our scripture today in verse 21 of Galatians 2 for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Another scripture I read last Friday morning was James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
If you look in the mirror and you only see your body and who you are then you have missed what Easter is all about.
We have forgotten what manner of human we were before Jesus. Before Jesus gave us the spirit of life we were dead in our sins in our spirit
That’s the reason Paul said that… I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.
