David was a man After God’s Own Heart.
David and Saul were opposites:
Saul was “head and shoulders” taller than anyone in the kingdom.
David was a “Rudy youth”.
Saul took matters into his own hands.
David came in the name of the Lord.
Saul tries to kill David and hunted him.
David had opportunity to kill Saul and “would not touch the Lord’s anointed.”
Saul was not a repented man.
David was a man who repented.
Psalm 51:1-12 “1- To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 2- Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3- For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4- Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. 5- Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6-Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. 7- Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8- Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. 9- Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10- Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11- Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12- Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” (ESV)
David Had A Repented Heart.
I John 1:8-10 “8-If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.” (NASB)
David was a Worshiper.
Psalms 103:1-5 “A Psalm of David. 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; 3 Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; 4 Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; 5 Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.” (NASB)
Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.”
Note:
There was the multitudes; the 70; the 12; the 3 (Peter, James and John); then there was the 1 (John).
John 19:24-28 “24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's
sister, Mary the [wife] of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own [home]. 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.”
It was the “disciple whom Jesus loveth” (John) that had his ear to the chest of Jesus at the last Passover meal they shared together. He could hear the masters heartbeat!
Do you have a heart after God’s on heart?
Do you have a true heart?
Where is your ear?
Can you hear the heartbeat of the master?
