Belief in Jesus is saving power
Thanks to everyone for your support, kind words, and most of all your prayers for Kevin and also your prayers for our 7 month old Great granddaughter who has the flu. It seems Satan pours out a bucket of troubles sometimes but, our Lord is there to bring out good from every bad situation. Bible says in Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. How many does our Lord deliver us from? All!
We serve a God that hears our prayer, comforts us….strengthens us…replaces our fear with peace that surpasses all understanding. Psalm 34: I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
It’s amazing what prayer can do from the heart of a child of God. I’ve seen it change lives, heal the sick and the broken hearted.
We can rest assure that our Lord hears us when we cry out to Him. Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
But what about the lost?….what about the ones who are nonbelievers? You know, I would say most lost souls think that being good will get them to a good place when they die. I also believe that the only prayer heard by God from a nonbeliever is one of repentance.
I got an E Mail from a guy I’ve known for over 30 years in entertainment and I have witnessed to him a few times but, he is a strong non believer. What I mean is he is one of those that Apostle Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
In his E Mail he says “I will keep a good thought for Kevin” ….Really? I will keep a good thought? He can think a good thought of Kevin around the clock but, that won’t heal him! He should have been at the hospital and heard the prayers to God in the name of Jesus….he should drop in some churches when friends and family are coming together in prayer ….he should be there sometime to see when Gods people come together ….God begins to move!
For the life of me I have never understood just how a nonbeliever makes it through life without God. I don’t know how they make it through their troubles, sickness or loss of a love one. Most depend on their friends and family but, when all the dust settles…who is there in those quiet times when there is no one around? Who is there to pick up those pieces of your life that doesn’t make since to no one and put them together for your benefit and His glory? Who can give you a peace about the future that everything is going to be alright that we certainly can’t see? Who can adjust our future because of a prayer? Who can heal the blind and make the cripple walk? Only our Lord can do all these things.
I often think about the story of the blind man in John chapter 9. This man was blind from birth and grew up as a beggar and depended on others to help care for him. Bible says that Jesus saw this man and had compassion on him. I believe that Jesus had compassion on him not only because of his physical condition but most of all his spiritual condition. You see, he depended on the world to provide for his life.
He depended on others for everything but, he was still blind. He couldn’t see the need for a Saviour until Jesus reveals Himself to him. Jesus placed clay on his eyes and told him to go and wash it off in a pool of water and he did and was healed. This once blind man was healed because of his belief in Jesus.
But, he was kicked out of town because of his belief. It was an assume day in the life of that once blind man when he met Jesus one on one in verse 35 of chapter 9 John Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?....verse 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. At some point in time Jesus has revealed or will reveal Himself to my nonbelieving friend but, it’s his choice to stay blind or receive spiritual site, eternal life or hell…how about you?
