Summary: God has provided an escape just as for Lot He has provided a way out for you, His name is Jesus!

Lesson 8 ESCAPE FOR YOUR LIFE 11/02/2012

Scriptures: Genesis 13:12; 19:14-17; 19:24-26, Luke 9:62, Matt 10:22.

INTRODUCTION

Lot lived in Ur of the Chaldeans; he then inhabited Canaan with its uncle Abraham, and later was established in Sodom. Someone like Lot that has not been called by God, can only be following

someone like in this case, L ot followed his uncle Abraham. This was a high cost for Lot, not to

seek the direction of God, but allowed himself to be guided by his own human instincts.

I. LOT TRAPPED IN THE LAND OF SODOM

a) Negligent decision Genesis 13:12: The eyes of Lot deceived him through the plains and the

fertile lands that were next to the Jordan, ignoring that he approached a place corrupted that

would originate the destruction of his family.

b) Trapped by his bad decision: Lot was on the verge of losing his life and his family by

allowing himself to be overcome with greed and the influence of the earthly possessions, his

simple-mindedness of not including God in his daily life brought great problems to him and its

family.

II. LOT PUSHED BY THE ANGELS

a) The mercy of God: The angels that removed Lot from Sodom did not act with delicacy but

they used force to remove by pushing Lot and his family from the city. They told him "Escape

for your life; do not look back…"

b) God does not desire to waste time with nobody: The calling of God is prevailing and if He

says that we must act it is time to act, we shouldn’t wait for someone to push us as Lot perhaps

this will never happen. The time of God is more valuable than ours; take advantage fleeing the

Sodom that have around you.

III. DO NOT YOU LOOK AT AFTER YOU

a) Time to act and decide: We all arrive a time in our life the moment to make the most

important decision that will change the course of our existence; we either take it or leave it.

Continue ahead without looking behind.

IV. NEITHER PEERS IN ALL THE PLAIN

a) The purpose of God that arrive at the goal: The salvation of Lot did not consist only of

leaving Sodom, but to be moved away as far away as possible of that place and assure his

salvation and that of his family. God not only wants to remove you from that condition, and of

this society full of sin, but He wants you to arrive to the goal and get ahold of eternal life.

CONCLUSION

Just as God sent his angels to Lot, He has not ceased to send his servants evangelists to the Lots

that are found submerged in the Sodom of these times. The salvation now is not to flee to Zoar

or to the mountains but to Christ the refuge that God has provided to flee the future destruction.
