Redeemed Redeemed

Introduction

Today there seems to be those that teach that there is many ways to God.

I would like to state the Word of God, the Holy Bible is the infallible Word of God and it states that there is only one way to God and that plan was given as a promise in Genesis 3:15 and continues from Genesis to Revelation.

John 3:16 confirms that the only to have eternal life is through God’s only begotten Son.

It requires redemption, so what does it mean to be redeemed?

The word “redemption” means “the act or process of buying back.”

When sin entered into the human race through Adam, it resulted in spiritual death for all humanity.

For man to be reconciled to God and have the relationship and fellowship with Him restored, it required redeeming humanity from the deadly consequence of sin.

Scripture

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:1-6

Now we come to our scripture text for this morning.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

Prayer

Father as we come together this evening, open our hearts and minds to your understanding. Give to us the wisdom that only you can give.

Father may we grasp hold of the power of redemption, may we understand the awesome power that is in the blood and we learn to rest in your everlasting arms.

Father gives us the knowledge to share this redemptive power with others.

Father, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your presence this day.

I ask all these things in the awesome power of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, my savior, deliverer, shepherd, master and coming King. AMEN

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

1. Redemption Required

Why is it necessary to have redemption?

Humanities’ Condition Reveals It:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Why is redemption required for eternal life?

God’s Nature Required It:

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

God’s love Prompted it:

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6

God’s wisdom Conceived it.

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

Galatians 4:4

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), Galatians 3:13

God’s holiness Demanded it.

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 6:20

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:5 (KJV)

God’s only begotten Son Provided it.

Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Romans 3:24

2. The Degree of Redemption

What is the degree of redemption?

Universally Existing:

“And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for our only but also for the whole world.” I John 2:2

Completely Efficient:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9

Eternally Enduring:

“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” Hebrews 9:12.

Jesus said:

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” John 10:28

3. Redemption by Grace Only

How do you recieve redemption?

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.

This verse tells us three great truths concerning redemption:

• It cannot be obtained through our own good works.

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Hebrews 9:12

You cannot buy redemption

• It cannot be obtained through any merit of our own.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Colossians 1:14

You cannot earn redemption

• It comes only by His grace and through our faith.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Luke 21:28

• It is not temporary or can it be lost

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30 (KJV)

Grace = God’s riches through Jesus Christ.

Grace builds a bridge between God and us.

4. Redemption Brings Victory

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Corinthians 1:30

The rapture the coming of the Son of God

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Luke 21:28

Our redemption comes only through the blood of our Lord Jesus.

It is only "the blood-sprinkled path" that leads to salvation and eternal life.

The hymn writer, Fanny J. Crosby, captured the joy of redemption when she wrote:

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!

Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;

Redeemed through His infinite mercy,

His child, and forever, I am.

Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus!

No language my rapture can tell;

I know that the light of His presence

With me doth continually dwell.

I think of my blessed Redeemer,

I think of Him all the day long;

I sing, for I cannot be silent;

His love is the theme of my song.

I know I shall see in His beauty

The King in whose law I delight;

Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps

And giveth me songs in the night.

Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed

Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;

Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed,

His child, and forever, I am.

Invitation/Conclusion

Redemption is not something that you earn, nor is it given to you by an inheritance.

R. L. WHEELER, SAID

If I had the Wisdom of Solomon,

The patience of John,

The meekness of Moses,

The strength of Samson,

The obedience of Abraham,

The compassion of Joseph,

The tears of Jeremiah,

The poetic skill of David,

The prophetic voice of Elijah,

The courage of Daniel,

The greatness of John the Baptist,

The endurance and love of Paul,

I would still need redemption through Christ’s blood, the forgiveness of sin.

You can only be redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.

Have you accepted the redeeming power of the Blood of the Lamb?

Do you believe in the redeeming power of the Blood of the Lamb?

Have you confessed all your sins to our savior and redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ?
