Summary: Noah lived in a very difficult time and yet in so many ways by the descriptions given in the Bible of Noah days we are living in a similar environment. What can we learn from Noah that we might find grace in the eyes of the God?

The Days of Noah

Genesis 6:1-13

Mention: Genesis 6:5-6, 11 The state of the world in Noah’s days

Questions:

• I wonder how many people were upon the earth at this time. Genesis 6:1

Today we know that there is an estimated 6.5 Billion

• I wonder how bad it was at this time.

We know that in Genesis 6 it tells us the imaginations of man were only evil continually. That sounds so much like today to me.

Mention: Matt. 24:38 Jesus said that they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage…

• Could it be also that we are living in a time even as Noah?

With all things considered concerning the time Noah I believe we all would agree that Noah was a remarkable man of God.

A) He knew that God was going to destroy mankind

B) He also knew that it would happen in 120 years Vs.3

C) He was to speak a message that no one would believe

D) He also knew that he was not going win a popularity contest

In Comparison we know today:

A) There is a coming judgment for all of mankind

B) That this judgment could happen any day

C) The gospel of Jesus Christ is offensive to man

D) The one who bears the cross is subject to persecution

Isn’t it true that today we are living in a similar time and situation as Noah did?

I want to share several things about Noah that each of us should take in consideration:

1. He Walked With God

Up until this time this is only said of Enoch and Noah

To walk with can only imply one thing and that is he lived a godly life in an ungodly society!

Lot as a comparison did just the opposite in Sodom. 2 Peter 2:7-8 vex with the filthy conversation of the wicked…vex righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds

Ezekiel 14:14 Name Noah among Job and Daniel

Genesis 7:1 I have seen thy righteousness…

Point: The only righteousness that God will be pleased with man putting on the righteousness of Jesus Christ by faith.

When the Lord comes will He find you walking in the flesh or the Spirit?

2. His Actions Said He Believed God

Hebrews 11:7 Being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear

Mention: 2 Peter 2:5 Preacher of righteousness

Imagine preaching an unpopular message for 120 years that for the most part is falling upon death ears but being faithful.

Mention: 2 Peter 3:3-5 There are those who are willfully ignorant not believing in the coming of our Lord.

I truly believe what Jesus was saying in Matthew chapter 24 is that people will just denied the coming of Christ and live their lives as if it is a myth. The marriage and giving into marriage is not sinful, but to live their lives with no consideration of the truth concerning God is. It’s the sin of unbelief.

“He began building the Ark”

The significance of the Ark is it is the type of Christ.

a. The pitch was used to keep the judgment of the water out. It is the atonement we have of Christ.

b. The size of the Ark I believe was large enough for whosoever will come in

c. The window above reminds us to always trust looking up unto Him

3. He Focused On His Family First

Hebrews 11:7 to the saving of his house

No one else believed the message of judgment Noah preached, but thank God this man did not lose his family.

4. He Shows Us God’s Favor Upon Such

Mention: Genesis 7:16 God shut him in

John 6:37, 10:28 In no wise cast out, no man can pluck you out of My hand

God will never forget you!

Mention: Genesis 8:1 and God remembered Noah

We go through so much in this life, but I can assure us all, that God has not and never will forget about His children.

See: Isaiah 49:15 I will not forget thee
