Today you will find me in the book of Luke in the 22nd chapter. We will be looking at Luke 22 verses 1 through 6. It is here that we find Judas betraying Jesus in return for some money. Luke 22:1-6 reads as the following:
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. 3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
The people tell Judas that they will give him money, if only he betrays Jesus. Judas would agree to betray Jesus just for a little bit of money. This is probably why the word of God tells us that the root of all evilness is money. Let us remember that it is because of money that Judas would end up betraying Jesus.
We need to ask ourselves if we were offered money to turn on Jesus would we do it? You see money was Judas weakness, so Satan knew exactly how to get Judas to turn on Jesus. THe same way that Satan knew Judas' weakness, he knows mine and yours too. That is why it is important to stay in the word of God. To pray daily, and to always stay prepared for the attck of Satan.
Dear God give us the strength to defeat the evil one. God, please do not allow Satan to use our weakness, to make us turn from you. Finally, God please strengthn us physically, mentally, and spiritually, so that I do not become as Judas became. This is our pray in Jesus' Amen!
