Standing On The Promises.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
We see death most every day, either on the news or in our neighborhood, friends, family, acquaintance. There is no getting away from the death of our body. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So, death is not an accident , it's an appointment.
Job, lived hundreds of years ago and said, "For I know that my redeemer liveth." You know, Job could have said, my God lives or my Lord lives and would have been correct also....but, he said my Redeemer lives!
What does redeemer mean? One who delivers from bondage by paying a ransom or buys back. He said, “Redeemer” that means that Job knew he needed to be purchased back. He knew that he ultimately belonged to God, but that sin had interrupted that relationship. He had the confidence in God and faithfulness to say, “I know that my Redeemer lives.
In fulfillment of Job’s words, centuries later Peter said in 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot
Jesus is the redeemer that Job spoke of. Christ is our Redeemer, who has repurchased us. He has delivered us from bondage of sin by paying the ransom with His own sinless blood. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The second thing that Job is certain of is that this body is not permanent. Job says in verse 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body.
The Apostle Paul hundreds of years later explained it this way in 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: and verse 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
We walk by faith that Jesus lives. We trust in His promises and are so confident in His word that we day dream about the wonderful reality of being with Him in our eternal home.
We are so confident in His promises that we run for that heavenly prize that God has made with His own hands and waiting for us so, what's the rush.....lets tell others.
