1 Thess. 5:9-11-For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. (New King James Version)

(New Living Translation)

Proverbs 25:11-A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver. (New King James Version)
Proverbs 25:11-The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl. (New Century Version)
For every one person in your life that encourages you, there are three people in your life who discourages you!
A lot of times thru our life we hear discouraging voices and they say things like this:
You can’t do that.
That’s impossible.
You’re no good.
Can’t you do anything right?
You’ll never amount to anything.
You’ll never change. Why bother?
What’s wrong with you?”
We might hear these things in people’s voices, we might see it etched on their faces or in their actions, and if we’re not careful we might begin to believe them about ourselves.
And you may have heard such things from your family, from your friends, from a teacher, from someone you respected, someone you work for, or from the world in general – but we should not hear them coming from God’s people!
My definition of an encourager is: A person who make you feel better about yourself or better about the situation you are in after you talked with them!
Hebrews 10:25-not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (New King James Version)
No matter what mankind has done to church, church is still God’s idea, He only established two institution…Marriage and Church!!
We are to encourage each other to attend church!
Proverbs 25:11-The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl. (New Century Version)
Have ever had someone to encourage you just at the right time, sent you a card just at the right time!
1 Thess. 5:9-11-For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. (New Living Translation)
Edify-To build someone up, to build someone’s confidence up.
Encouragement has the power to elevate, to cause people to excel even above their own expectations!
Do you spend more time criticizing than you do complementing?
We need to pay complements even if no one complements us!
Some people pay complements and they are waiting on the receipt! But God sees, God hears, and He is pleased when we encourage one another!!!
We need to be reminded that we love each other and that we appreciate each other!
Hebrews 3:13-But encourage each other every day while it is "today-We may need to be encouraged next week, next month, next year, but I got to tell there is somebody in your life that needs to be encouraged today!!!
Hebrews 3:13-Help each other so none of you will become hardened because sin has tricked you-Don’t walk out of here today thinking “I wish, oh, so and so could heard this sermon!” Because the truth is we could all be better encouragers of one another!
Don’t harden your heart thinking someone else needs to do this, when in fact it needs to start with the people hearing the message today, it needs to start with you!
Are you going to be that one person in people’s life that is going to encourage them?
Are you an encourager or a discourager?
Maybe today you need to be encouraged, you got all those nay-sayers in you life, so I want to encourage you this morning from the words of Dr. Lance Watson:
When you know who you are, then people will want to know who you are!
It’s amazing how God provides, it’s amazing how God will make a way out of no way!
We are God’s master piece, He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the things He has appointed us to do.
Paul reminds those at Ephesus, we are saved not just to sit and stare, soak and sour, we are saved for a reason.
There is a purpose to our pilgrimage, there is a point to our praise, there’s a reason for our service, we are saved for something.
So wonderful, so awesome, so marvelous, so miraculous, it’s hard to believe, you just don’t know yet how sweet your life can be, how happy you can be, how high you can rise, how far you can go, how long you can last, how resilient you can be, how courageous you can live, how strong you can feel, once you plant yourself in the center of God’s will, because God has made you into a real piece of work!
