Beyond Hearing
James 1:19-25
There are a small percentage of people in America that may say they have never heard the Words of God.
Preaching is on the radio, television and even the computer today. It is even broadcast in many foreign countries in their native languages.
A. The Word of God is without error
Mention: Psalms 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning
B. The Word of God is without change
Mention: Psalms 119:89 for ever O Lord thy word is settled in heaven

1. Hearing with an APPETITE
I have never met anyone that benefited from the Words of God without and appetite!
Mention: Psalms 34:8 O Taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that truseth in Him.
See: 1 Peter 2:2-3 As new born babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that they may grow thereby
Mention: Job 23:12 I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
We are not going to faithfully read our Bibles until we get a desire for the Word
Mention: Matt. 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

2. Hearing ATTENTIVELY
Vs.21 Receive with meekness

Mention: Mark 4:24 Take heed what ye hear
Luke 8:18 Take heed how ye hear
Note: Himself, and his way, he was “We are to hear for ourselves and not others”
Our hearts are to be prepared!
See: James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Meekness = The attitude of acceptance to what is heard
a. Conviction
b. Correction
c. Cleansing
d. Comforts
e. Conversion
3. Hearing ACTIVELY

The word is referred to as looking into a mirror!

b. Don’t forget what you saw
c. Don’t fail to obey what the word tell you to do
