I Samuel 17:29
David saw something worth fighting for.
II Samuel 23:11-12: “11- And after him [was] Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. 12- But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.”
Shammah found something worth fighting for!
Poem: A Soldier
There is discipline in a soldier; you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in a soldier; you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in a soldier; you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in a soldier; that he will not compromise.
There is something in a soldier; that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in a soldier; that beats from his heart.
A soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do,
A soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you.
A soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A soldier is always a soldier even while he sleeps.
A soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind,
A soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind.
…Thank god for every soldier.

You fight for what is right because it is right!
Ronald Regan – A Time for Choosing – Speech October 27th, 1964:
“If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin—just in the face of this enemy? Or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard 'round the world? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain.
…You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." "There is a point beyond which they must not advance.”
Hebrews 11:32-40 (Amplified)
“32 And what shall I say further? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,
33 Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions,
34 Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts.
35 [Some] women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured to death with clubs, refusing to accept release [offered on the terms of denying their faith], so that they might be resurrected to a better life.
36 Others had to suffer the trial of mocking and scourging and even chains and imprisonment.
37 They were stoned to death; they were lured with tempting offers [to renounce their faith]; they were sawn asunder; they were slaughtered by the sword; [while they were alive] they had to go about wrapped in the skins of sheep and goats, utterly destitute, oppressed, cruelly treated—
38 [Men] of whom the world was not worthy—roaming over the desolate places and the mountains, and [living] in caves and caverns and holes of the earth.
39 And all of these, though they won divine approval by [means of] their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised,
40 Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them].”
Is there not a cause worth fighting for in your life today!
