Faithful Saying-Paul is going to be giving his young preacher boys some topics that they should preach on, these topics had been and should be preached on time and time again, so much they had become sayings, just like we have sayings.
Third Saying-Titus 3:8-This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
Be Careful-If we are not careful, we begin to more self centered in our daily walk!
We begin to pay more attention to what our needs are, than the needs of others!
Why be careful? Because it gets tiring being the nice guy or nice person all the time!
It wears on you always doing the right thing!
It drains you to always be the one that helps others and receives no help for your self!
It gets burdensome, to always be the one to sacrifice, to always be the one to compromise, to always be the one that goes the extra mile, to be the one who does all those things little things that nobody notices (A husband came in from work and there were toys scattered everywhere and dishes in the sink and dirty clothes on the floor and dirty towels by the bathtub and the husband asked, “What’s going here?” the wife response, “You know you asked me yesterday, what I did all day, well today I didn’t do it!”).
God knows that! He knows it is not easy, He knows sometimes it’s a pain, He knows that many times we never see the results of us doing good works, but we have to remember this one scripture in mind, when we are doing things for others and that is:
Matthew 5:16-Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
I am not working to get into Heaven, I AM WORKING BECAUSE I’M GOING TO HEAVEN!
I am doing good works to glorify my Heavenly Father, now others will benefit from that, and I will benefit from that, but what drives, what motivates me is knowing that God will be glorified!
The ones who I am doing good works for, may or may not deserve it, but my Heavenly Father does!!!
Be Careful To Maintain [or engage in] Good Works-In other words we are to look for opportunities to do good works!
Maintain-Make Something Continue.
The church who is giving school supplies and haircuts.
The church who is giving free guitar lessons (Us and Macedonia-Hix free guitar lessons)
If God can give Chris the ability to play, just think what He could do with someone who has talent!
The church who was giving gift cards out at a grocery store
We should not and we can not wait on the government to do what God has commissioned the Church to do!
These things are good and profitable to men.
