Borrowed Time
Text: Ephesians 5:15-21
Intro:
What would you do if you knew for certain that this was your last day on earth? Would you make the best of the time? I imagine that you would pray and make sure that your heart was right with the Lord. Would you find someone whom you at odds with, and try to make it right? The thing is, this may very well be your last day on earth. We are living on borrowed time. You see the time is not ours it is God’s. We need to live each day as if it were our last. Not spending so much time worrying about tomorrow, or thinking about yesterday, but concentrating on today. We need to look at today as if it were our last day to make an impact for God in this world. We have filled our lives up with so much that we don’t seem to have time for anything else, but what we don’t realize is, the time is His, and he just allows us to use it, and how we make use of the time determines the impact we make for Him. The church need to make better use of the borrowed time we have, and do our best to make an impact for the Kingdom of God.
Time Is Short
I believe that we are in the very last days, and we don’t have much time left, and we need to make the most of it.
Ephesians 5:16
redeeming the time, because the days are evil
Psalms 89:47
Remember how short my time is; For what futility have You created all the children of men?.
James 4:14
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Time To Wake Up
The church has gone to sleep, and the enemy has come in like a flood. The things that are going on in the world today, is a result of the church falling asleep. We need to wake up and do our part to make a positive impact in this world. We need to wake up and realize that there are lost people everywhere that are going to go to hell if they don’t accept the Lord.
Romans 13: 11-14
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Mark 1: 15
and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God tis at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
1 Corinthians 15:33&34
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
Time To Get Ready
It’s time to get ready for the coming of our Lord, our Savior Our King. Jesus is coming back to get His church and we need to get ready. We need to have our hearts prepared for His return and we also need to prepare as many as we can.
Mark 13:32&33
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
Matthew 25:13
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour tin which the Son of Man is coming.
1 Corinthians 15:52
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Conclusion:
we have to realize that the time we have is not ours, it is His, and we have to make the best of the time that we have, so that we can make a statement for the Kingdom of God. We need to draw closer to Him and stop letting things get in the way of us doing what we KNOW we need to do for Him. The time is short, and we are on borrowed time, so let’s make the best of it.
