Psalm 29 "The Voice"
1. Our text today says the Voice of the Lord is like:
A. The Text says the Voice of the Lord is over the Waters The Voice of the Lord is like Thunder
The Voice of the Lord is Powerful, The Voice of the Lord is Majestic (Holy Garments)
The Voice of the Lord is able to break Cedars The Voice of the Lord strikes like flashes of Lightning
The Voice of the Lord is Shakes the deserts The Voice of the Lord Twists the great oaks
2. Since God's Voice is so powerful and so strong why do we not hear the Voice?
A. We do hear because we are distant and can not hear the Voice
Proverbs 15:29The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous
B. We do not hear because Worries of the world have choked out the word
Matthew 13:. 22The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries
of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful
C. We do not hear God's Voice because we do not want to, like those that stoned Stephen they did not want to hear the Truth
Acts 7:57At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58dragged him out of
the city and began to stone him
3. We Hear God through the Scriptures Hear what others have said about God's word
A. Hebrews says 12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword has to say
B. The Psalmist says He would have perished had it not been for the Word
Psalm 119:92If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
C. The Psalmist says thy word is my delight it is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields it fruit in due season
D. Paul says, " 4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope
.
E. Isaiah says God's word is effective11so is my word that goeth forth out from my mouth: It will not return to me void but will accomplish what I please and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
F. Jeremiah says God's word Rejoices the Heart 16When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.
G. Luke say 11: 28 , "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
4. Those that will listen for The Voice Hear your conclusion
A. Those that hear the Voice and do what is right hear your conclusion
Exodus 15: 26He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay
attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians,
for I am the LORD, who heals you."
C. Those that are listening for The Voice, this is your conclusion God will Go Ahead of your Journey
. Exodus 23:22If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose
those who oppose you. 23My angel will go ahead of you
D. To those that will Hear the Voice your conclusion is, you will have right to :
Rev 2:7He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
