Sodom deal! – Abraham – Part 4
Genesis 4:17”And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.”
Did we not read in the Bible that the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour? (1 Peter 5:8) Get ready to read the next attack that the enemy plans on Abraham. Now after severe trials and wanderings in the enemy territory, Abraham is back to Bethel, the place where he built an altar for God; however, the enemy looked for other ways to attack Abraham. Caution!
At times the devil disturbs the family circle, so that your attention is diverted from God and to frustrate you. We read in the fourteenth chapter of Genesis that king of Sodom along with four other kings attacked Chedorlaomer king of Elam and three other kings - four kings against five. However, the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and the enemies not only took away all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah but also took Lot, Abram's brother's son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. Abraham was not going to remain silent, he took an army and attacked the kings and read what he did: “And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. “ (Genesis 14:16) Now, I have a reason why I have elaborately explained about the kings; the ‘goods’ that Abraham gathered from the rich countries in the battle were not small, the riches were enormous. Though victorious and heavily loaded with goodies and booty from the battle, Abraham was tired while he returned from the battle.
Satan now planned his attack subtly, he inspired the king of Sodom to meet Abraham. Beware! Even while you party and are happy, be smart and vigilant not to fall into the dirty trap of the devil. God watched everything from above and planned an encounter for Abraham with Melchizedek king of Salem, who was the priest of the most high God. He blessed him, and said, ‘Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. Abraham gave the man of God tithes of all.’ (Genesis 14:18-20) Friend, when you honor God with your tithes, God would surely protect you from the attack of the enemy. Many highly paid professionals suffer today because they have failed to bless God with their substance. Read my entire article on TITHE to know better on this subject. People are not educated on the subject hence the enemy robs the money that is due to God. If you have not been tithing, repent and start doing it right away, bless the work of God with your earnings. Now, the king of Sodom comes with a wicked plan, he says: “Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.” The huge booty could have made Abraham the richest man of that time; however, look what Abraham said: “I will not touch even a pin that is yours lest you say that you made me rich. Go your way.” Wow! Hats off Abraham! God was floored! He could not wait to tell Abraham in the very next chapter: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." (Genesis 15:1) Give me the enemy a kick when he comes dangling the carrot in front of you.
1 John 2:15”Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. “
His countenance is far more glorious and dazzling than the glitter of gold, diamonds and dollars!
