Oh, you little sparrow!
Genesis 12:20”So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.”
Did you know you are precious in the eyes of God? If not, today take a good look at yourself and say, “I’m precious in the eyes of God!” Amen. That sounds better! Well, I have a lovely lesson for you today, at times the storms and tornadoes which we think might harm us turn out to be a blessing. You may ask, “ah, but how?”
While Indian Evangelist Sadhu Sundar Singh was resting under a tree after a tiring day of traveling and preaching, he saw a bird on the ground far away and it looked like it was hurt, his heart melted to reach out to the bird. Just then a strong wind blew and swept the bird from the ground and brought it right on the lap of Sadhu Sundar Singh. Fondly holding the bird he thought: ’are we not also tossed and turned by the trials of life but eventually the trials bring us to the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ Don’t they?
The Bible says when the famine was severe in Canaan, Abraham got terrified and ran to Egypt. A wrong move! One wrong move can lead to several others! Beware! Abraham further lied about his wife and called her his sister; however, God intervened with Pharaoh and his family and forced him to release Sarah. Pharaoh said: ‘here is your wife, take her and go your way.’ Observe here, God used a wicked, pagan king to push His servant Abraham away from the wrong place. Chapter thirteen opens with the words: ‘Abram went up from Egypt and returned to the altar that he built first between Bethel and Ai.’ God at times uses storms and hurricanes to drive you to the right destination! Today if you are going through persecutions, humiliation, isolation and insecurity; fear not, they are meant to prick our conscience, highlight our sins, enlighten us of our sin-corroded life and make us see that we are on the wrong track and the need to return to God. You will soon reach the right God-given destination meant for you! The power, authority and truth in God’s word is a protection in danger and a weapon against Satan. Even Jesus turned to God’s word for His comfort. How about you? May we be strong in faith like David and be able to say: “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.” Amen. (Psalm 23:3) When fear stumps us, let faith in Jesus resurrect us!
I was very skeptical when God placed it in my heart to move to Damaigudda, an area in the outskirts of Hyderabad city. I wondered how my children would manage in that rural area! But God through severe problems and trials, almost pushed us into the area, which had actually been planned and prepared for us by God several years ahead. It is here that we have started our SHILOH REVIVAL CHURCH and our free ABIDE SCHOOL for the less privileged children.
Situations at times buttonhole us in such way that there would be no way to escape anywhere but to turn to God. Hallelujah!
