The Names of Deity are Attributed to Jesus Christ:
Only Jesus as the Eternal, Uncreated God could bear the titles ascribed to Him in the Scriptures.
[a] He is the The Son of God, so referred to at least 40 times:
[See Matthew 14:33; 16:16; 27:54; John 5:18; 10:36; plus synonyms, in Matthew 3:17 and Psalm 2:7]
“Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the
Son of God.” – Matthew 14:33
[b]He is The Only Begotten Son. [John 1:14, 18; 3:16, 18; 1 John 4:9]
“For God so lovedhte world the He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
Shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
[c]He is The Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. [Revelation 1:8; 22:13]
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
(Revelation 22:13)
[d]He is The Lord, The Lord of All, The Lord of Glory. [Acts 4:33; 9:17; 10:36; 1 Corinthians 2:8]
“The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ - He is Lord of all.” (Act 10:36)
[e]He is God. [John 20:28; Hebrews 1:8]
“And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
[f]He is God with us. [Matthew 1:23]
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call
His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
[g]He is God blessed forever. [Romans 9:5]
“of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ
Came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.”
[h]He is Our Great God. [Titus 2:13]
“looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and
Savior Jesus Christ,”
[i]He is The Mighty God. [Isaiah 9:6]
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government
will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
[j]He is The Savior. [Luke 2:11]
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord.”
[k]He is The Prince of Life. [Acts 3:15]
“and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which
we are witnesses.”
[l]He is The Holy One of God. [Luke 4:34]
“saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?
Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are— the Holy One of God!”
[m]He is The Son of the Highest. [Luke 1:32]
“He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest;”
All of these titles carry the thought Deity. Jesus Christ, according to the New Testament, which affirms the Old Testament, specifically identifies Jesus Christ as the Eternal, Uncreated, and Uniquely One-of-a-Kind, Son of God having entered into this world in the stream of humanity, yet without sin, in order that He might provide eternal redemption for all who would come to Him in faith, place their trust in and reliance upon Him for salvation from sin.
[3] Old Testament Descriptions of God are Applied to Jesus Christ:
[a]“The LORD said to My Lord, sit at my right hand till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” [Psalm 110:1]
This Old Testament verse is quoted three times in the New Testament, and in each instance is applied directly to Jesus Christ:
• Matthew 22:44 – Jesus applies it to Himself;
• Acts 2:34-35 – Peter applies it to the risen, glorified Christ;
• Hebrews 1:13 – the Writer applies it to Jesus, the Son of God.
Therefore, Jesus Christ is the One of whom David spoke in Psalm 110:1, when he used the term “Lord.”
[b]“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” [Isaiah 6:1]
John quotes Isaiah 53:1, 6:10, and 6:1, in that order, in John 12:37-41. His reference is obviously to Jesus Christ. No thinking person could have any doubt that “the Lord” seen by Isaiah is any other than Jesus Christ.
[c]“Therefore the LORD Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” [Isaiah 7:14]
When Matthew inscribed the record of the birth of Jesus Christ, he wrote:
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people form their sins.’ So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,’ which is translated, ‘God with us.’ Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn son. And he called His name JESUS.” [Matthew 1:18-25]
No one need be left in a state of doubt as touching the relationship of these two passages and the grand and eloquent truth emerging there from.
[d] “You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, even from the rebellious, that the LORD God might dwell there.” [Psalm 68:18]
As unquestionably is this reference to God, so unhesitatingly Paul applies it to Jesus:
“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
Therefore He says: ‘When he ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.’” [Ephesians 4:7-8]
[e]It is noteworthy that additional comparisons could be made, such as the following:
• Psalm 102:24-27 with Hebrews 1:10-12.
• Isaiah 40:3-4 with Luke 1:68-69, 76-77.
• Isaiah 60:19 with Luke 2:32.
• Isaiah 8:13-14 with 1 Peter 2:7-8.
• Isaiah 40:10-11 with John 10:11.
• Ezekiel 34:11-12 and 18 with Luke 19:10.
[4] The Name of Jesus Christ is coupled with that of God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
This is evident from such Scriptures as the following:
Matthew 28:19; John 5:23; 14:1, 20, 23; 17:1-3; Acts 2:38; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:3; 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Titus 2:13; James 1:1; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Peter 1:1-2; Revelation 7:10; 20:6; 22:3.
[5] Equality with God is claimed for Jesus Christ.
[a]He claims it for Himself. [John 5:18; 14:9-13]
“Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke
the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.” (John 5:18)
[b]His followers claimed it for Him. [John 1:1; Acts 20:28; Romans 9:5; Philippians 2:6; Hebrews1:8]
“who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God.” (Phil 2:6)
[6] Prerogatives and Privileges of God are accorded Jesus Christ.
[a] Creation. [John 1:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:10]
[b] Preservation of all things. [Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3]
[c] Forgives sins. [Matthew 1:21; 9:2-6; Mark 2:5-10]
[d] Inspires people. [1 Peter 1:11; John 14:26; 18:37]
[e] Gives eternal life. [John 10:28; 17:2]
[f] Raises the dead to life. [John 5:26-29; 6:39, 44]
[g] Refashions the believer’s body for eternity. [Philippians 3:21]
[7] Worship, honor, and praise attributable ONLY to God are received by Jesus Christ.
[a] He is honored as equal with God the Father. [John 5:23]
[b] He is worshiped, for He is God. [Matthew 14:33; Philippians 2:10-11; Hebrews 1:6; Revelation 5:11-14]
[c] He is the Supreme Object of faith. [John 14:1; 1 Peter 2:6]
Though the devil may crave it [Matthew 4:9], and redeemed men and angels refuse it [Acts 10:25-26; Revelation 22:8-9], God alone is worthy of and is to receive praise, honor and worship. The Scriptures attest therefore, that Jesus Christ is not simply a good man, nor an angel, but is the very Eternal, Uncreated, and Unoriginated God.
[8] The attributes of Deity are assigned to Jesus Christ.
[a] Omniscience. [Matthew 9:4; Mark 2:8; Luke 5;4-6, 22; 22:7-13; John 1:47-51; 2:24-25; 6:64; 13:1; 16:30; 21:17; Acts 1:24; Colossians 2:3; Jude 25; Revelation 2:23]
[b] Omnipresence. [Matthew 18:20; 28:20; John 3:13; 14:20; 2 Corinthians 13:5; Ephesians 1:23]
[c] Omnipotence. [Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 7:16-17, 26-27; 28:18; Luke 4:34-36, 39, 41; 8:54-56; John 3:32; 10:18; Romans 9:5; Ephesians 1:17-23; Colossians 1:116-19; 2:10; Hebrews 1:3; Revelation 1:8]
[d] Self-existence. [John 5:26; Hebrews 7:15-16]
[e] Immutability. [Hebrews 1:12; 13:8]
[f] Manifested Truth. [John 14:6; 1 John 5:20]

[c] The Holy Spirit. [Luke 2:25-32]
[d] John the Baptist. [John 1:29, 34]
[e] Andrew. [John 1:41]
[f] Nathanael. [John 1:49]
[g] Peter. [Mathew 16:16 – as revealed to him by the Heavenly Father]
[h] Martha. [John 11:27]

[j] The Centurion. [Matthew 27:54]

Conclusion
Nine different areas of truth thus corroborate to attest to the Deity of Jesus Christ. These areas, in review are:1. Eternal existence is ascribed to Jesus Christ; 2. The names of the Deity are attributed to Jesus Christ; 3. Old Testament descriptions of God are applied to Jesus Christ; 4.The name of Jesus Christ is coupled with the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit; 5. Equality with God is claimed for Jesus Christ; 6. Prerogatives and privileges are accorded Jesus Christ; 7. Worship, honor, and praise arributable only to God are received by Jesus Christ; 8. The attributes of Deity are assigned to Jesus Christ; 9. Direct testimony of Deity is given directly to Jesus Christ. Much more proof is available. His Deity is so evident that it is seen in His every word and act, and the validation of this truth is witnessed to in the heart of each of His followers.
