Maranathai, the LORD is coming soon
II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:
General believers with ministry involvement
III. OBJECTIVES:
To show the sign of the LORD's coming
IV. TEXT:
Matthew 24:30-31
30 And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world —from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
Pray that we will see the LORD face to face ending our tears and our desperate wait for HIM.
V. THESIS:
Signs of the LORD's coming
VI. TITLE:
Signs Of The Second Coming Part 2
VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Matthew or Levi
B. Key Thought: Fulfilled
C. Audience: Jews
D. Purpose: to show that JESUS is the Kingly Messiah of Jewish Prophecy.
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. Signs
1. The Last Sign: Son of Man will appear in the Heavens.
- Daniel saw CHRIST in His Vision. (Daniel 7:13)
Daniel 7:13
As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence.
2. All nations of the earth will mourn.
- Guilty fear (Isaiah 66:4)
Isaiah 66:4
I will send them great trouble— all the things they feared. For when I called, they did not answer. When I spoke, they did not listen. They deliberately sinned before my very eyes and chose to do what they know I despise.
3. The Son of Man will arrive with Power and Great Glory in the clouds of Heaven
- The LORD is riding the clouds (Exodus 13:21, Isaiah 19:1) to take revenge on those who have oppressed His people.
Exodus 13:21
The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night.
Isaiah 19:1
This message came to me concerning Egypt: Look! The Lord is advancing against Egypt, riding on a swift cloud. The idols of Egypt tremble. The hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.
4. The LORD will send forth His angels.
- With the sound of the mighty trumpet blast. (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
- Parable of the weeds (Matthew 13:24-30)
Matthew 13:24-30
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field.
25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away.
26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.
27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’
28 “‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed. “‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.
29 “‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”
5. The angels will gather together His chosen ones (Matthew 13:43)
Matthew 13:43
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!
- We will shine like the sun (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18)
1 Thessalonians 4:17-18
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.
6. Chosen ones will be gathered from the farthest end of the earth and heaven
- Heaven or heavens has several layers
example: 3rd heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2)
2 Corinthians 12:2
I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows.
- Enoch and Elijah are both still alive - taken into 1st Heaven (Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5, 2 Kings 2:11-12)
Genesis 5:24 - Enoch
walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.
Hebrews 11:5
It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.
2 Kings 2:11-12 - Elijah
11 As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his clothes in distress.
IX. CONCLUSION:
The LORD is coming soon
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) - Be comforted, there's an end to all these evils.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.
18 So encourage each other with these words.
