The Man Moses
Numbers 12:1-16
See: 2 Cor. 10:18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
For it is not what we sat about ourselves that count but what the Lord knows about us!
See: Matt. 11:11 Jesus speaks highly of John the Baptist
See: Ezekiel 14:14, 20 God references these three men as being righteous
Examples: Job “Have you considered my servant Job”
Vs.7 “My servant Moses”
Moses obviously was doing something right because he’s being talked about!
What does the LORD tell us about him that we can learn from?
1. A Meek Man
Note: Probably before the 40 years of desert experience after fleeing Egypt this would not have been said about him.
To be “Meek” is frown upon in our society because it is view as being weak, but the Bible says it is strength.
Meekness is spiritual and not natural, inward and not outward, giving without demanding and patient and longsuffering and not vengeful.
Mention: Matt. 11:29 For I am meek and lowly in heart
This meekness is displayed by Moses even in this passage as he pleads on the behalf of his sister Miriam. Vs.13
Mention: 1 Tim. 6:11 Follow after meekness
Also: Gal. 5:23 the eighth grace of the Fruit of the Spirit
The Lord chooses to use this kind of person!
Meek: Also means one possesses the quality to taught
2. A Faithful Man
Faithfulness is lacking today in every way you think of!
Vs.7 Who is faithful in all mine house
Every child of God is in the family of God and that makes us a part of His household.
Are ye faithful?
As Moses we have been entrusted with some things of the Lord.
Faithful= In doesn’t mean you will never fail, but what it does mean you will never quit as you learn from your failure.
3. A Man of God
See: Deut. 33:1 The man of God
This simply means he was a godly man!
A godly person possesses certainly obvious qualities:
a. A Understanding of God Word
Mention: Numbers 12:8 With him I will speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches;
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and hot hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
b. They Display the Likeness of God
Numbers 12:8 And the similitude of the LORD he shall behold
Similitude: resemblance or to model
Mention: Exodus 33:18-23 Shew me thy glory Moses asked the LORD.
• Certainly Moses in his life display the power of God upon him (Red Sea parting, Water of the rock etc..,)
He spent so much time in the presence of God that he displayed the likeness of God also.
See: Psalms 17:15 David said unto the LORD I will be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness
See: 2 Cor. 3:7-18 The Bible talks about us being changed into the image of our Lord by the Spirit of God.
