Genesis 1
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
What is the best way to start to understand anything? When I read a book I start on Chapter One. There are a lot of people in the world that cannot understand the things of God because they never spent time trying to read God’s Holy book, The Bible. The Bible is not complicated or hard to understand, but like any book we need to commit to read it from beginning to end. If there is something that will pay off and change your life for better is to read this book.
I would like to start by reading again the first sentence of the Bible.
1. In the beginning…God
So what comes first? This is really simple…”God-first”. The secret for a successful life is to put God first in everything we do. What are the first words that come out of your mouth when you wake up? Do you start the day by cursing your life? Some people wake up and say “Oh no another day of work, I hate my job…” others start the day in pain and complain about their health as they try to get out of their beds. Why don’t you start your day by confessing something good like “I love you Lord” or “Another day of victories ahead of me with God’s blessing over everything I do!”
Whatever comes first in your life eventually becomes your god. Do you really put God first? Are your priorities well aligned? If you are a Christian this should come out naturally but you can fall into the trap of honoring God with your lips but having your heart far away from Him.
The first of the Ten Commandments says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3) …So you need to put God first above all other things. Are you really doing this?
2. In the beginning God…created
Not only God is the beginning but also he is the Creator. Some people think that he stopped his creative process after creation was done. This is a big mistake. Not only he created but also he continues to create and he will be creating in the future. If there is something we need to grasp from Scripture is that God will always surprise us and create ways where there are no ways, gardens in the wilderness, life where death abounded and all sorts of creative works that we cannot even understand or imagine. In fact he is able to do a lot more than what we ask or think. God is sovereign; he can give sight to the blind, new eyeballs, new years, new legs. He can bring death people back to life. God can do the impossible! He is Almighty and Supernatural. He saves, He heals, He gives life and life everlasting.
God is not in a Museum, he doesn’t belong to the past and he is never surprised with what we do. He is all knowing and even before we say something he already knew what we are bout to say because there is no limits of time or space. He was, He is and He will be forevermore the supreme conductor of the great orchestra of life. All things created where made by Him, through Him and without Him nothing could exist.
Notice in Genesis 1 that right in the beginning He created light out of darkness.
And there was evening and there was morning, the first day
God created light, named it, verified that was good and continued the creative process. Let me tell you that if you feel that there is darkness in your life He is able to create circumstances that will bring a bright light into your future.
3. Light Shines in Darkness
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
What does the Gospel of John say about the beginning? Again God in the beginning but now revealed to us in a different way. “The Word” was God. This passage reveals who Jesus Christ is and once again it talks about light. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it.
9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
So this seams to be very simple and straightforward. If you receive Jesus Christ as the light of the world there is an acquired right of adoption into God’s family. Today I would like to challenge you to come out of that dark place in your life and allow Jesus Christ to shine and start the creative work of giving you a New Life.
4. Choose your Master
Matthew 6
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Let me finish by talking about divine healing. Jesus was teaching his disciples about the condition of the heart and the way we observe the world around us. He was telling them about a life built by storing treasures in heaven instead of treasures on earth. He then gives a powerful revelation about spiritual light and spiritual darkness. If you look into others, if you observe the world around you with constant criticism, complaint, comparing yourself with others. If you live in function of earthly wealth, money and things you can buy on earth there is darkness in your life. He goes to the point of saying “great darkness”.
So we can see that in order to receive healing in our bodies everything starts with an “healthy eye”. He is not talking about our eyeballs but about the way we perceive the world around us.
Conclusion – Divine Healing
Before we pray for one another I would like to read a Scripture from
Isaiah 58
6 “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily;
Sometimes we need to fast and pray in order to see the hand of God manifesting the Creative power of the Almighty. Fasting is not about denying food to our physical bodies but it’s a lot more than that. Fasting is not about you but it’s all about serving others in God’s name. If we decide to break apart from selfishness and commit to live like Jesus our healing shall spring up speedily.
Let us pray for one another and trust the Lord for the healing of our sicknesses. Let us allow God’s creative light to shine over our darkness.
