Matthew 5:14-16 says, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candle stick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
One of the names by which Christians are known is "Light.” Christians are supposed to be the light in this dark world. Christians are supposed to show the way to people who do not know the way. They are supposed to direct those who are in darkness. Matthew 6:22-23 says, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Luke 11:33-34: “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body is full of darkness.”
It is a very evil thing for light to become darkness. When light becomes darkness, many things go wrong. So, in the scriptures above, Jesus was making very deep statements. He was not talking about physical eyes because a person may be able to see physically but be spiritually blind.
When light becomes darkness, many things go wrong. There will be lack instead of plenty because the affected people cannot see where they can get the plenty from. There will be hatred instead of love, where people are meant to show love, they will exhibit hatred. There will be frustration and rejection instead of fulfillment and acceptance. Things certainly go wrong when the light in a person’s life becomes darkness.
There will be failure instead of success, and bondage instead of freedom. There will be hardship instead of ease and discomfort instead of comfort. It is therefore a great prayer to decree that the light in you does not become darkness.
The prayers recorded in the Bible are very powerful. For instance, the book of Ezekiel 11:11 says, “This city shall not be your caldron.” Many people do not understand what it means but it is a powerful prayer. It is also good to pray that every power of spiritual blindness should scatter. It is good to pray that the reign of darkness in your spiritual life should be terminated. It is also good to pray that your dreams and visions should receive divine clarity. It is also good to pray that the veil of darkness covering your face should be torn off completely.
THE IMPORTANCE
OF LIGHT
You need to pray all these anti-darkness prayers regularly because when you have light, you will be advertised. Light gives you visibility. It provides vision, and brightens the most remote areas. Light makes things very clear. It chases away evil, and also prevents evil. Somebody who you know very well may be harming you in the dark because you cannot see the person but when the light comes, the enemy will be revealed.
Light makes things clear. Light displays and confirms the truth. Light illuminates. It is like a disinfectant in the spirit world. It reveals things. Light defeats darkness no matter how thick the darkness is. A little bit of light in a situation will reveal any darkness around it.
Light provides a pathway for people. Light facilitates progress, while darkness slows things down. Light warms you sometimes when it is cold. Light also warns us of danger. It prevents catastrophe and reveals what is missing. It is therefore a terrible thing when the light of a person becomes darkness.
WHEN DOES THE LIGHT OF A PERSON BECOME DARKNESS?
1. When the person’s physical eyes are evil, that is, the eyes are carrying out the instructions of darkness.
2. When the eyes register unholy things.
3. When the eyes accept evil things. The eye is like the lens of a camera, it takes pictures, and there is a developer in the heart, where the pictures are produced.
4. When the eyes are giving evil messages. That is when the eyes are used to pass across evil messages.
5. When the spiritual vision is lost.
6. When dreams turn to nightmares instead of vision.
7. When the eyes photograph iniquity; that is, looking at a person. While imagining evil. Such eyes will put a person's spirit man in trouble.
8. When you are suffering from spiritual ignorance. That is, you really do not know your left from your right spiritually.
9. When your spiritual eyes are blind.
10. When your eyes keep causing spiritual pollution in your spiritual life. That is, such eyes have made a covenant with darkness. It is a terrible thing.
People need to pray that the spiritual cataract in their eyes should be removed. We need to pray the prayer of the Psalmist who said, “Open my eyes, that I may see" (Psalm 119:18). What does the Psalmist want to see? He wants to see spiritual things.
When your spiritual eyes are open and it is all light, you will discover that where others are failing, you will not fail. You will find that where people are making mistakes you will not make mistake. And if your prayer is being resisted, you will know why it is so.
If you discover that evil spirits are overcoming you, it means there is something wrong. However, if you are in the light, you will be able to take charge of your destiny. When your light becomes what it should be, you will become someone the enemy cannot put down.
You must pray the accompanying cataract-destroying prayers in this message so that your spiritual eyes will be opened. If your spiritual eyes are opened, it will not only help you spiritually, but also physically and will bring faith into your heart.
The enemy does not want the spiritual eyes of people to be open. The enemy prefers people to be in darkness, he prefers people to be ignorant. That is why Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”
People need information because information is power. The difference between the rich man and the poor man is just information. The difference between somebody who scored ‘A’ in class and the person who failed is information. If you need specific information from the Lord and want that informing-spirit to begin to operate in your life, then you must pray the following prayer points aggressively.

2. In my dreams tonight, angels of light appear, in the name of Jesus.
3. Every veil of darkness, be roasted by the fire of the God of Elijah, in the name of Jesus.
4. Tell the Lord to throw light on the areas where you need information.
5. Father Lord, remove from my life anything that scares you away, in the name of Jesus.
6. Every strange fire burning in my life, quench now, in the name of Jesus.
7. Father Lord, establish me in every good work, in the name of Jesus.
8. Spirit of God, help me and increase me in the knowledge of God, in the name of Jesus.
9. Father Lord, let your word have free course and be glorified in me, in the name of Jesus.
10. Let the Spirit of the Living God reveal my innermost being to me, in the name of Jesus.
11. Father Lord, give me understanding and enlighten me about your ways, in the name of Jesus.
12. O Lord, make perfect what is lacking in my faith, in the name of Jesus.
13. O Lord, do not be a spectator in my life, in Jesus’ name.
14. Every seed of spiritual blindness and deafness, fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.
