PRAY: Pray for self-control and clear minds for us to pray, love and hospitality.

VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Peter - impulsive and full of weaknesses, whome Christ called Simon (Mark 14:37, Luke 22:31, John 21:15-17) Peter was prophesied by Lord Jesus to be a rock (John 1:42) called satan by Lord Jesus (Matthew 16:23)
- If Peter never studied at all, because he's just a fisherman, how can he write intelligibly, because of his secretary Silvannus/Silas named at 1 Peter 5:12

Silas will bring this letter to you. I know that he is a faithful brother in Christ. I wrote this short letter to encourage you. I wanted to tell you that this is the true grace of God. Stand strong in that grace.

B. Date and Place of Writing:
Uncertain. There are places in 1 Peter it's implying Rome, Peter mentioned Babylon which symbolizes ancient Rome (1 Peter 5:13), Peter also mentioned Silas and Mark which both of them got to Rome too (1 Peter 5:12-13) He might be writing 1 Peter inside Rome while Paul was in prison and with Paul during his trials before he died in Rome, but there's no certainty.

A. Prioritize 3 Things in the Last Days:
1. Self-control and clear minds so we can pray. (1 Peter 4:7)

a. Spirit is willing but body (flesh) is weak (Matthew 26:41)
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Illustration: we're only human as always is our alibi but we're not just human, but we're spirit, soul and body.
b. If in trouble, pray. (James 5:13)
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
c. Pray continually. (1 Thessalonians 5:17, 1 Timothy 2:8)
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

2. Love one another deeply or honestly. (1 Peter 4:8)
