Have you ever felt like you were adrift in the ocean with no clue on how to get to shore? A lot of times in life we get a curveball when we are expecting a fastball. We get frustrated when we try to figure God out. Without knowing it a lot of times we even try to play God. When you take matters into your own hands you are playing God. When you judge someone you are playing God. We get into trouble in this life when we compartmentalize God. This means that we make decisions without asking or seeking God’s approval. We know God is there but we are too busy to ask God what we should do. Again we are playing God. In some strange way we think our wisdom is just as good as God’s wisdom.
Luke 8:22-25 “One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
In the above passage Jesus calmed the storm. We don’t know if it was by arm motions or words but just as Jesus calmed this storm He can calm the storm in your life too. The disciples in the boat did one thing that a lot of us fail to do. The disciples ASKED Jesus for help. When was the last time you truly asked Jesus for help? We are all guilty of playing a Christian game of asking Jesus from our mouth but our heart is far from the Lord. If we ask in a rote way we are not seeking God. We have made up our mind what we are going to do before we ask.
I don't know where it says that men don't ask for directions. I ask all the time. One thing I do know about men is that we wait too late to ask. Then we are really lost. Plus men don't let to be told we are lost. We get really good at lying that we really know where we are when we have no clue. We would get in a lot less trouble in this life if we askwd for help a lot less earlier than we normally do!
So how should we ask?
Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
This doesn’t mean that the Lord will give you the winning lottery ticket BUT He could. The Lord could give you the winning lottery ticket if He saw that you would not destroy yourself with the wealth. He may give you that new job if it will not harm you in the end. First of all we need to ask. Sounds simple but things are placed in motion in the heavens and the earth when we ask with a humble heart. We do not know how it works as we are not God.
You have a problem JUST ASK. Don’t ever feel like you are putting God out. God wants to have a relationship with YOU, yes YOU. No matter what is going on today in your life God can handle it. He can rescue you and redeem your position and your heart. Don’t ask and not believe but ask and believe.
Have a joyful day expecting something great to happen. Then e mail me back so we can share your miracle with others!!!!
