Jeremiah 20:9

IV. THESIS:

GOD is a consuming FIRE that consumes us, shut up in our bones and hearts

V. TITLE:

FIRE in my heart and bones

VI. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Jeremiah

B. Audience: Disobedient Jews, Priests, Temple leaders; in other words, leaders and workers

C. Jeremiah lived in around 7-6 B.C.

D. Context:

After Jeremiah obeyed God's commands to prophesy as major prophet in Israel Old Testament, He was beaten, put in stocks, and imprisoned. (Upper gate - Benjamin's gate in the temple.

E. Jeremiah is known as the lamenting/weeping prophet. He's the same as Apostle Paul because of his beatings, caged and put in stocks.

F. Are you like this? Everytime we do God's will, we suffer? Do we need to lie low or be more fiery? The more we suffer, the more we burn for the LORD.

VII. MAIN BODY:

A. God will remind us everytime we think we need to stop.

1. God reminds us of Himself.

B. God and His Words are like a fire in our hearts and bones.

1. God is like a fire. (Exodus 3:2)

Exodus 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. (JPS)

Exodus 13:21 The LORD went in front of them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so they could travel both day and night.

2. God is like a refiner's fire. (Malachi 3:2)

Malachi 3:2 But who will survive the day when he comes? Or who can stand when he appears? For he's like a refiner's fire and a launderer's soap.

a. God needs to refine us like steel, iron is useless, unless cleaned of impurities. Fire can remove these impurities.

b. Silver is not valuable unless you clean or refine/purify it by fire.

3. Holy Spirit is a Fire (Matthew 3:11)

Matthew 3:11 I am baptizing you with water as a token of repentance, but the one who is coming after me is stronger than I am, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals. It is he who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

4. Don't quench the Fire, rather encourage them to be more fiery.

A. Ways To Get More Fire:

Worship Service, Midweek Service, Fellowships, Bonding/Fellowship, Yearly Prayer and Fasting, Prayer Meetings, Dawn Watch, Night Watch, Ministry Devotionals,

1. Invite people.

2. Don't stop attending.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire.

5. God is a consuming Fire. (Hebrews 12:29)

Hebrews 12:29 For "our God is an all-consuming fire."

VIII. CONCLUSION:

A. We are unstoppable like a fire that consumes.

B. We hold in our hearts and bones, the Fire (GOD) that can save this world,our Only Savior and way of escape from the fires of hell.

C. Challenge:

Consume everyone that comes our way with the Lord's Fire.
