10-23-11 Romans 9 thru 11 It's all about Gods plan
The next three chapters deal with Israel’s spiritual history: past (chap. 9), present (chap. 10), and future (chap. 11).
Paul’s purpose is to explain how God could set aside His chosen people and save the Gentiles, and how He will restore the nation at a future date.
The message today is It's All About Gods Plan
In chapter 9 of Romans Paul expressed concerned about Gods people coming to Christ...many rejected Him and still believed in their own religion and that goes on today.
But Paul was a Apostle to the Gentiles...anyone who is not a Jew is a Gentile...but, Paul was somewhat pleading with them to come to Jesus.
God has a plan for everyone including the lost...the lost will face judgment....but, those that belong to Him will not.
God uses those that come to Him now.....God uses all not just some but, all...everyone has a part in the growing Kingdom.

Romans 10:1-4 (KJV)
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
.....Prayer for others...
Paul said my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
I was just telling my Aunt and Uncle yesterday...ain't it good to know that our family is saved and we will all be together one day?
It is a great thought...but, if you have a family member that is lost...it is a burden on your heart.
Paul said it's his hearts desire and prayer that his own people would be saved.
That's the best thing and sometimes the only thing we can do....but, prayer is a powerful tool that a child of God has
Hospice?? Illus...the saved ones family is sad but, fine...unsaved all they do is greave.
Verse 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge
Paul is saying...I can vouch for them they have religion..but they are not saved...that is true today...many go through the motion but, don't know the truth of the gospel of Christ...still relying on their own works. Paul says in verse 3
and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves
Verse 44 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
“Christ is the end of the law” means He is the goal. Our Lord made it clear. He said in effect, “I didn’t come to patch up an old garment; I came to give you a new garment—the robe of My righteousness
Matthew 9:16 (KJV)
16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

Romans 10:8
the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
.....Tell others.....
Many people think they have to go to an altar in some sort of meeting to be saved. But salvation is available anywhere anytime.
This is the gospel....and if your saved your qualified to spread it.
It don't have to be a certain time...place...its not some ritual ...its faith and only faith...to confess and believe is faith.
And people cannot get saved if they don't hear the gospel
This is a great statement, which Paul quotes and it comes to pas from the Old Testament ( Joel 2:32), And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered
This was to enforce his argument that salvation is by faith.
This makes it very clear that both Jew and Gentile are to call on the Lord.
To “call upon the name of the Lord” means to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We should share this with a lost person at some point in time in our life...many times if possible but, at least once...that might be our whole purpose in life to lead one lost soul to Jesus.

Romans 10:15-18 (KJV)
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
A calling is not only a calling as evangelist, preaching, teaching, pastor, I believe that when a person gets saved...Christ calls on them for farther service...a calling has many different faces...it may be a calling in your life to bring just one person to Jesus but, that one person may lead thousands of others to Christ and that's what the gospel is all about.
verse 16...is Isaiah and that comes from Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report?
Paul is concerned about the Jew..people of Israel
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God
No one can get saved unless they hear the word of God...the plan of salvation...
That's the reason I believe in my radio ministry so much....the word of God travels to thousands and God sends it to whom He will.
Verse 18...Paul is saying that all that reject the word are heald accountable.
Romans 11:28-32 (KJV)
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
Paul was making himself clear here....even though Israel was rejecting the gospel of Christ...God was not rejecting them.
The gospel of Christ is to everyone ...that's what makes it so exciting....John 3:16 for God so love the world"
