Eyes of the Lord!
Zechariah 4:10”For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth."
Good morning! Do you feel insignificant, small and lost? Mark it today, the seven eyes of the Lord are on you! You are the apple of His eye! Do you know that? Rejoice!
After the return of the people of Israel from captivity to their home town Jerusalem, God spoke to two people Zerubbabel and Joshua (not the assistant of Moses) that they would rebuild the Temple of the Lord. The work of the temple started but they were stopped by their enemies and they were mocked, despised and criticized from all sides; yet, the seven eyes of the Lord were on them; to help them rebuild the temple. Mark rebuild! Who said you will not rise again? You will! Your life would be rebuilt! Is it in ruins now like the Temple of Solomon, mark His Words today, it would be rebuilt! Not two eyes friends, but HIS SEVEN EYES were on them! Glory, glory. Glory! I’m excited! Seven eyes are watching you too! To hold you, watch over you, protect you, pick you, lift you up, feed you and set you high on the Rock! While Zerubbabel looked discouragingly at the problems around Him, the seven eyes of the Lord rejoiced to see the plumb line (work) in the hand of Zerubbabel. God looked at the finished point and rejoiced, while we are stuck with a short vision! We say, ‘now Lord’ but God says ‘not yet’. Dear, dear friends, you can never rejoice if you look what lies under your nose, stretch your vision and look ahead at the promised blessings kept for you. Yes, for you! Mature today! Stop being a fast-food Christian! Marinate yourself in His Word, obey Him, correct your life, work hard, be humble, separate quiet time with Him and be sure to be blessed. Stay patient! His Seven eyes are on you!
I guess when Joshua and Zerubbabel went for a walk around the site, where the foundation of the temple lay in ruins, where the stone was covered with rubble and sand; I guess they desperately tried to locate that place, while their heart sank and wondered, ‘where can we get the timber, where can we get the gold, silver, money and labor needed for rebuilding this colossal Temple?’ God watched their thoughts! You want to know His reply, here it is: ‘For behold, the stone That I have laid before Joshua: Upon the stone are seven eyes!” (Zechariah 3:9) Ah, who can hide that foundation stone? God said, ‘my seven eyes are on that stone!’ Give Him a shout of praise today! Do you feel, ‘I have not got a call from that company, though I received an appointment letter? Mark it, trust Him – He would send you to that place! Are you wondering, ‘will I get that visa?’ or ‘will I get married’ or ‘will this crisis go?’ YES, God would restore you! Let me give the lovely scripture that talks about the glorious rebuilding of the temple, before I go further: Zechariah 6:14’So the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and FINISHED IT, according to the commandment of the God of Israel.’ It was done!
Job while going through a miserable path of pain, loneliness and loss said: Job 23:9 ‘When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him; When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him. But He knows the way that I take.’ I reiterate, He knows and He watches all your ways! You may not be able to see Him but He is watching you! I want each one of you to get this into your heart (in fact, your whole system) today that you are perpetually under His gaze! Like a mom who watches over her kid! He has not taken His eyes off you! Yes, 24 x 7! Round the clock! Never say again, ‘who cares for me?’ He cares a lot, lot for you!
The Eyes of the Lord – Part 2
He watches over me!
Job 23:9’ When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him; When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him. But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.’
God chose to remain hidden, as his beloved son Job went through persecutions and immense pain for a greater purpose of making him Christ-like in nature and through his patience and endurance teach valuable lessons for all of us. Sometimes suffering in the life of people and their faith and positive response turns into valuable source of lessons for us. After I got saved through tremendous pain and struggle, my entire family watched my faith and got saved too. Though we may not be able to see Him, but His invisible Hands are working on our behalf! Do you hear me? At times, we may wonder, ‘why does God allow such things to come my way, since He is watching over me, why does He not come quickly to bail me out?’ I may not have answers to all your questions, but sure, I can say one thing, “He would turn evil to good.’ Relax!
It was our initial days of moving to a new city for ministry, while we were struggling to cope up with the new environment, new language and the people as well; we were ministering in small places and waiting upon the Lord to show us the way. Much around that time, there was terrible turmoil in the city with the death of the Chief Minister in a helicopter accident, followed by agitations demanding the division of the State. Five days of curfew and bandh came as a shock to us, as on that particular day our rice bag, cooking oil, petrol and our wallet were empty - I mean wiped dry; we were going through a terrible period of drought in our ministry. What do we do? Banks were closed - not that we had any money, though; neither did we go hunting for a Citibank ATM where I could have used my Credit Card to draw cash. I shared a very close relationship with the hindu, Brahmin lady staying close to our house - though she would vehemently reject the Gospel and never stepped even once to attend our prayer meeting - I ventured to call her and asked her, ‘ do you have some cash with you, I would return once the banks open?’ She replied, ’Hey Bala, I was thinking of calling you this morning for help because I am totally dry without money.’ My little son started pestering me and saying, ‘I’m hungry!’ I locked my prayer room and just started crying to Him. I agree with you guys who read about me everyday that I was no longer the bold servant of God but a broken mother pleading to God. Exactly after one hour I heard the door bell ring and I found a lady with a cover in her hand, she said, ‘the opposite house aunty gave this to you.’ When I opened I found Rs.2000/- inside, immediately I received a call from my opposite house friend, as always she cheerfully said: ‘ I went hunting for a bank and found one half opened, I squeezed underneath the shutters and managed to draw ten thousand, eight for me and two for you, is it enough? I said with tears and a choking voice, ’more than enough, thank you.’
That very day God spoke to both my husband and me through a same scripture, do you want to know the scripture? Deut 2:7"For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing." My, my can He be any more clear? He said: I know your trudging through this great wilderness! He knew we were in a great wilderness! He knew it was no ordinary wilderness but great indeed! He had seen the empty rice bag, empty oil can, empty petrol tank and the empty wallet! I know there are millions of questions that you want to ask me now; why, why and why did He allow that great wilderness? To mould me! After reading that scripture, which God spoke to both of us at the same time, we knelt down and thanked Him for watching over us, we never uttered one negative word, that’s how I am able to give you numerous lessons on faith. He knew everything and like the raven that helped Elijah with food, God fed us that day. His eyes are on you!
Eyes like flames of fire! Part 3
Hebrews 4:13 “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
As much as it is lovely to know that His gaze is upon you to take care of you, it is also scary to know that you are always watched! Are you there? When you are gazing at the pornography movie after everyone had gone to sleep, when you are watching the porn stuff in the dark corner of your office cabin, when your eyes rove on the next door married woman, when you are bribing, when you are cheating, when you are stealing, when you are sending that dirty sms, when you are chatting with a stranger for long hours, when you are exchanging notes with a married man on the Face Book…the list goes on – God’s eyes are watching you! Proverbs 15:3”The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good!” Hmm!
We read in Revelations 1:14 that His eyes were like flames of fire! Oh! Imagine those eyes watching you all the time! How could Christians get into adultery and many other brazen sins fully knowing that they serve a God who never sleeps nor slumbers? Friend, I can only say one thing here, we need spiritual revelation to know that our God is real, He watches over us and that He is no wood, tree or stone but a true Living God. Amen. Yes, we need our eyes to be opened to know about His eyes on us!
Isaiah cried, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." (Isaiah 6:5) Observe his words: ‘For my eyes have seen the King!’ Only when your eyes have seen the King, would you be able to see the dirt in your life! David said: Psalms 139:1,2” O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up…” Are you listening? ‘What is wrong if I disobey the ten commandments, show me someone who follows it completely?’, was the question a youngster posed to me when I confronted him about his relationship with his childhood sweet-heart who was a married woman with a son.
A destructive comfort level has crept into the life of Christians, watching the entire world go the wrong way. What’s wrong anyway? When you watch sports celebrities and film stars marry the fourth time and throw a party, for which even the cabinet ministers shamelessly attend, we sure wonder why not I? Why should I go on time to office, when there are a whole lot of them who come late and get away with it? Why should I be sincere and honest and give my best shot at work, while the rest of them are having jolly good fun? Why should I just only look at my wife, when I have a beautiful woman sit next to me at work? Why should I pay and buy my computer soft wares, while the entire globe is cheerfully chewing and munching on pirated soft wares? When others are getting it absolutely free and they seem to get away with it, why should I, why should I pay for it? Many, many argue with me, here’s my answer: (Psalms 11:4) ‘The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.’ Be it hindu, muslim or Christian, punishment is reserved for the unrighteous! Colossians 3:25’But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.’ Osama Bin Laden lived inside a plush,18-foot concrete walled compound, topped with barbed wire, with his armada of wives, children and guards; but one day foreigners from a different country strolled into his bungalow, precisely walked into his bed room and shot him dead. His eyes are on You! There is no escape! Repent right now!
We have amazing medical technology that is capable to gaze into the human body to see what the eye has been prevented from seeing. The images on x-rays, MRIs, and C-T Scans are astounding! Yet they cannot see what God sees!
Proverbs 15:3, 'The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.'
