This was the headline in a news story I saw this week. (NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Investors lost $1 trillion in the stock market Monday as the debt crisis in Europe, lackluster economic news and a downgrade to the U.S. credit rating spark fears of a double-dip recession)
Investors placed their wealth in the hands of a man made organization called the stock market but, is looking to the gov-ernment because, if the foundation fails to supply to the majority, then their investment would be shaky. Here is a quote from an expert: "Thus, there is every reason to believe that investors are reacting, not to fears of too much government debt, but to fears that the government might become unable to spend enough to do its part in maintaining the strength of this country. ..."
When we place our trust in Christ, should we worry that God would have enough strength to keep us? When we sin does that shake the foundation of our salvation?
Let me ask this.....each time that we sin does that mean Jesus has to come to this earth and die again? Is it finished for those who believe or did Jesus just say that and not mean it?
No matter how many times God’s word proves that He so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that who so ever would believe on Him would have everlasting life. Man still thinks it’s all about what he does.
What is the foundation that our salvation stands on? Apostle Peter said it like this, 1 Peter 1:18-19 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Peter says, that you are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. That means to be redeemed is to be a Christian.
Before you can invest in the stock market you have to be an investor. Before you have salvation you have to be a Christian so, what is a Christian?
A Christian is not a person who has said a prayer, or walked down an aisle, or been raised in a Christian home. All of these things can be a part of a Christian but, they are not what makes a Christian. A Christian is a person who has, by faith, received and fully trusted in Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
What happens when we become a Christian? 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
A Christian cannot be changed back or undone what God has promised He would do. We are a new creature because of what Jesus did by sending the Holy Spirit to dwell in His own. We are now in the body of Christ because He lives inside us. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
The non Christian does not have the Holy Spirit. So, in order to lose our salvation someone would have to take the Holy Spirit from us. No one can do that, if so we could not trust God in anything and our foundation and salvation would be standing on shaky ground. John 14:16 Jesus said that...he may abide with you forever; and in John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
It’s not some manmade agreement or organization that keeps us...it’s the promises of God. Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen
