RECHARGE
Pastor Ken Crow
Romans 12:1-2
King James Version (KJV)
Romans 12
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I would like to start this morning by asking a very unspiritual question. How many have their cell phones on them right now? I am going to ask those that do to do something very unspiritual. Take them out right now and hold them up. Yes, take them out. Here is mine.
Make sure it is on. OK I am going to call someone’s cell phone.
( I make the call)
The last thing I do at night before I go to bed is recharge my cell phone. The reason for this is that I want to be sure and be able to communicate with the people in my life and be reachable in case someone wishes to communicate with me.
( Have at this point someone call me)
Cell phones have revolutionized the world. In most places in the world I can call you and you can call me on our cell phones. There is no more making the excuses of well I was not home or your line was busy. As long as my cell phone is charged I am going to get your call. And if we miss each other we can leave each other messages or even text one another.
Again in order to get to the voice message or text however I must have my phone charged, Here is my phone charger. It does not look like much . In fact it looks pretty simple. Not very impressive at all. But if it gets misplaced, lost or does not operate properly I go into panic mode. My communication depends upon my charger. If my charger is dead my communication with the outside world is dead.
This morning we are going to look at a way to recharge the most important thing in our life. Yes, even something way more important than even our cell phones. We must keep our line of communication with Jesus not only open but fully charged in order to live the abundant life Jesus Spoke of in John 10:10.
Our walk in victory is totally dependant upon the fully charging daily of our spiritual life.
An Hour of Power. Recharging everyday.
We must get alone with Jesus if we are to renew daily in the Holy Ghost. Again I am talking about a life changing daily experience . We may be saved and on our way to heaven but if we desire to see change happen in our life we must keep fully charged in our spiritual life.
This is not for the slothful or the lazy . But the Word of God speaks of that in
Proverbs 20:4
King James Version (KJV)
4The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing
I don’t know about you but I want my harvest!
Starting out the day.
Find a place to meet with Jesus. Set up a place that is quiet and private. Put on some music.
Recharge before you start the day. Set a time and let yourself not be disturbed.
1. Prayer:
First pray the Lord’s Prayer
Matthew 6:9-15
King James Version (KJV)
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
A. Pray a prayer of thanksgiving. Psalm 50:14
King James Version (KJV)
14Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High
B. Pray a prayer of love toward Jesus.
Romans 8:38-39
King James Version (KJV)
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord
C. Tell Jesus what we need in our life and in our families life just as we would tell a friend.
Matthew 21:22
King James Version (KJV)
22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
D. Pray for our Church and our Church Family. And pray over your prayer list.
If you do not have a prayer list start one. And here is the biblical reason.
Matthew 18:18-20
King James Version (KJV)
18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Job 42:10
King James Version (KJV)
10And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
2. Praise and Worship Jesus privately as we do in public.
2 Chronicles 7:3
King James Version (KJV)
3And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 28:7
King James Version (KJV)
7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 34:1
King James Version (KJV)
Psalm 34
1I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 22:3
King James Version (KJV)
3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Worship him:
Mark 14:1-9
King James Version (KJV)
Mark 14
1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
3. Take Communion. Not as a ritual, but as a deep remembrance of him that is our savior.
Luke 22:19-20
King James Version (KJV)
19And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
This morning I know there will be those who say all this is not necessary . Truth is it not just to be saved. But I am talking fully charged here. You or I can not walk in this dark world to well with a half charged battery. Our automobiles even recharge the battery as we drive down the road. If the charging system goes out the automobile stops, will not start and leaves us sitting by the roadside.
Truth is a lot of Christians have allowed their batteries to run low. A cell phone, a flashlight , an automobile running on low power encounters all kinds of difficulties.
We have our charger. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16
King James Version (KJV)
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:26
King James Version (KJV)
26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Try this and come back to me after a while . Set a time daily.
God Bless and Amen
