God's Window and Your Window
Gen. 7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Mal. 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
The door ----Heart = relation, walk
Window----Soul = experiences, vision
The windows of heaven open up for divine purposes
-3 times they opened up during Christs' earthly ministry.
-at His baptism (Lk. 3:21,22)
-at Transfiguration (Lk. 9:28-36)
-shortly before Calvary (Jn. 12:27-33)
Also at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
Opened up for Stephen, the first martyr (Acts 7:56)
Opened up for Peter on the housetop at Joppa (Acts 10:9-16)
3 times they were opened up for Paul
Opened up for John on the Isle of Patmos (Rev. 1:10-18)
God will open His window to touch your life and bless you if you are in the right condition. If not: Isa. 24:18
And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
I. Not every Window is Benefecial to You.
Eutychus found out the hard way.
Some windows you need to stay clear of, especially when they lead you out of church.
-Your eyes are the window to your soul
-Job made a covenant with his eyes (31:1)
II. Windows of Opportunity (time frame?)
RAHAB-(Joshua 2:15,16) She used her window to help the Jewish spies escape to safety; then from that same window was placed a scarlet cord which God honored to save her and her family--she realized there was no future for her in Jericho.
PAUL-(2 Co. 11:33) Through a window he was let down in a basket; to continue on in God's will.
The window had to be OPENED and ACCESSIBLE at the opportune moment.
III. Window of Testing/Obedience
Elisha and the King of Israel (2 Kings 13:17-19) Elisha ordered the eastward window opened for the king to shoot arrows.
Elisha also prayed that it rain not (shut window), then 3 years later he prayed that God would open the windows of heaven, and it rained.
Daniel (6:10) prayed with his window open in spite of undesired consequences.
IV. Windows of Blessing
Noah (Gen. 8:6) At the precise time, the window of the Ark was opened and specific birds were let out. In doing so, Noah came to understand that the time of a new beginning on a dry earth was at hand.
Malachi, the prophet, informs us that we should try (prove) God. In this specific case, with our tithes, and God Himself will open to us the windows of heaven, sending you more than you can contain.
VI. Your Personal Window
Is it the closed part of your house? Do you consider it only as a location for observing beyond your place of comfort and protection?
Beware of Isolationism
Looking from the inside out, we sometimes fail to realize how good we really have it.
IL.: The House with the Golden Windows
A young man sat in the second story bedroom looking out the window to a neighborhood across the hills. Time after time he saw the same thing; a house with shining gold windows. How he longed to get a closer look and even began to covet that beautiful house with such shiny golden windows. One day, he finished work early and decided to go visit this place personally. He walked around for some time, not finding exactly the place he was looking for. At long last, he spied a young lady in her front yard and dared to ask her, "Miss, I am looking for the house with the golden windows, surely you know about it." The young lady looked at the man and replied, "sir, there is nothing like that in this neighborhood, but if you look way over yonder on that hill over there, it seems that the windows sparkle with gold". The man realized immediately, that she was pointing out to him, his own house. Quickly, he thanked her and said, "I have no business here, I must return to where the windows truly are as good as gold."
John 4:35
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes (take a good, hard look out the window), and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
