John 1:29
People are looking for something that is real!
People are looking for hope and purpose for this life, just like they were in the Old Testament and in the New Testament
Between the Old Testament and the New Testament, God had not spoke in 400 years, The same God who had led their forefathers by word, by visions, by cloud, by fire, but now had been silent for so long.
Yet God doesn’t remain silent. He speaks today, as He spoke on that day.
John the Baptist shows up and begins proclaiming about the coming Messiah
John 1:29-The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
This statement is also an answer to a question that was asked a long time ago.
And we find that question in Genesis 22:6-8
Genesis 22:6-8-So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together.
But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
The question that is asked by Isaac…is the question that becomes the question of the entire Old Testament. The question is…Where is the lamb? The Jews were looking for the sacrificial lamb. They were looking for the Messiah.
1 Peter 1:18-19-knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
When John declared that statement "Behold the Lamb," as he spoke to that Jewish crowd…hopefully their minds focused in on that Passover lamb.
That blood from that Passover lamb was only applied to the lintel over the door and the posts at the sides of the door because we are not ever to trample the blood of Christ under foot (Hebrew 10:29).

It didn’t matter who lived inside or what had happened there, all that mattered was that the lamb had died and the blood applied for those inside.
It doesn’t matter what you have done, or who you are, are what you have or don’t have, as long as the blood has been applied to your life!
The Old Testament asks the question, “Where is the Lamb?
The New Testament answers the question by saying, "Behold the Lamb is Christ."
One day Christian will cry out, "Worthy is the Lamb!”
