Waiting Here For You.
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (NKJ)
Our generation does not enjoy waiting.
We rush through our lives without stopping to evaluate our activities.
Biblically, waiting on the Lord is never passive; it is always active.
What should we be doing while we Waite on Him?
1) Praise.
How are we to praise the Lord?
Psalm 150:1-6 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
2Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!
3Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
4Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
5Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
6Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! (ESV)
Psalm 150 Tells us:
Where God should be praised. (on earth and in heaven)
Why He’s to be praised. (for his deeds and greatness)
How He’s to be praised. (musical instruments and dancing)
Who is to praise Him. (Everything that has breath)
What a privilege it is to join the saints of all the ages in a chorus of praise.
Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its going down, The LORD’s name is to be praised. (NKJ)
2) Worship.
Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped.
21 And he said: “ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.” 22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong. (NKJ)
The ultimate in worship is to honor God as Sovereign and affirm His freedom to act in our lives. Job’s worship must have been especially pleasing to the Lord.
If Job could worship God with out possessions and no family you should have no problem worshiping God with all your possessions and your family in tacked.
We should worship God, because He loves us and he gave us His Son.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NKJ)
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NKJ)
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (NKJ)
Jesus paid for my sins and stood in my place that’s a good reason to worship Him.
John 9:31 Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. (NKJ)
Job was a worshiper and God heard him.
Waiting requires us to cease our own pursuits and give God our complete attention.
3) Pray
Psalm 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice. (NKJ)
This is certainly an excellent way to maintain correct priorities throughout every day.
Daniel followed this pattern, as did Peter.
James 5:13-16 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (NIV)
When believers are going through times of trouble, they should not complain or swear, but pray.
Christians should realize the power that is available to them through prayer.
Our prayers are part of God’s healing process. That is why God often waits for our prayers of faith before intervening to heal a person.
The Christian’s most powerful resource is communion with God through prayer.
It should not be the last resort. Prayer should come first.
When I do these things while I Waite on God, praise worship, and pray it leads me to:
1) Serve
Deuteronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, (NKJ)
What does the Lord your God require of you?
1) To fear the Lord your God: To hold God in awe and submit to Him.
2) To walk in all His ways: To conduct one’s life in accordance with the will of God.
3) To love Him: To choose to set one’s affections on the Lord and Him alone.
4) To serve the Lord your God: To have the worship of the Lord as the central focus of one’s life.
5) To keep the commandments of the Lord: To obey the requirements the Lord had imposed.
Romans 12:11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. (NLT)
In verse 11 the key thought is the last clause—serving the Lord—and the first two clauses explain how a believer is to serve as the Lord’s “slave”: never . . . lacking (“not shrinking, not hesitating, not being lazy”) in zeal, and being fervent in spirit.
As believers serve God as His slaves they should be enthusiastic and diligent.
2) Commit
Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. (NKJ)
To commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything-our lives, families, jobs, possessions-to his control and guidance.
To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust in him, believing that he can care for us better than we can ourselves.
We should be willing to wait patiently for him to work out what is best for us.
3) Surrender/Submit
: to yield oneself to the authority or will of another : SURRENDER
James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (NKJ)
If your not submitted to God then the Devil still has control.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. (NKJ)
In other words
• Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others.
• It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced.
• You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.
I am waiting here for you Lord and while I wait here I will:
• Praise you.
• Worship you.
• Pray to you.
• Serve you.
• Commit to you.
• Surrender to you.
• Submit to you.
