Psalms 27; 14
14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Lamentations 3; 24-26
24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Genesis 22; 1-14
1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen
Daniel 6; 1-20
1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
12Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
15Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
I really want to pick up where Eldress Harris left off, for she asked us the
question what will we be doing when Jesus comes. You see I don’t about
you or what you will be doing but I do know what I will be doing and I do
know what you should be doing and that is to wait on the Lord. We find in
Psalms 27; 14 the word wait on the Lord also meaning Trust in the Lord be
of good courage and he shall the bible don’t say he might the bible don’t
say he’ll think about it but the bible say he shall strengthen thine heart wait
I say on the Lord. You see I plan to be brief before you cause I know we
have another service but when I think about what I’m going to be doing
when Jesus returns there is a lot of things people might find themselves
doing but I’m going to do just like King David and wait on the Lord. You
see David knew from experience what it meant to wait on the Lord the
history tells us that he was anointed King at the age of 16 but didn’t
Become King until he was 30. During his interim ship he had been chased
through the desert by jealous King Saul. But see David had to wait on
God for the fulfillment of his promise to reign. Wait on the Lord. Then
the Bible tells us that later on after he became King this is my history.
Now y’all let me know Pastor if I’m in the book but later on we find that
his son who was just like most of us today rebellious y’all don’t want to
hear me, put on those steel toes I feel like I’m crushing some toes. But
that son also chased him. You see most of the time waiting on the Lord
ain’t easy, sometimes it seems like he ain’t even answering our prayers or
doesn’t understand the urgency of the situation. That kind of thinking
implies that God is not in control or is not fair. But God is worth waiting
for we find in Lamentations 3; 24-26 calls us to hope in and to wait for the
Lord because often times God uses our waiting to refresh us, renew us, and
to teach us. I tell you all today to make good use of your waiting time by
seeking out whatever it is God trying to teach us. See I have to be a
witness of how hard it is sometimes to wait on the Lord. Things come up
such as bills, car trouble, back stabbers and they all tend to cause us to stop
waiting on God and act as if we belonged to ourselves. But if we are going
to be Saints of the Living God we must first realize that we no longer
belong to ourselves and Satan will use his snares to attack us at that
moment and while we are acting in self what if Jesus returns. I’m ready to
take my seat but before I do I have to call on just 2 people that can tell you
about being able to wait on the Lord. But before I call the roll you see we
here at Love Fellowship have adapted and adopted the saying from the
Late Dear Aunt Maggie Dixon stay in the word. But often times we can
very much be in the word but only in the part that doesn’t convict us at that
moment but I tell you to stay in the whole word and to add to that and if
you adapt this you will be able to stay in the whole word. Wait on the
Lord, I’m so glad that he chose me and sometimes it gets scary because it
seems like he’s not coming just like this week the Lord wasn’t giving me
nothing so myself talking about the flesh wanted to preach the resurrection
talk about how they carried him up Golgotha but when I wasn’t expecting
the Lord he moved right on in just like first lady text stated he’s coming
when we don’t expect him. So now if I wasn’t for sure before I’m going to
wait on the Lord. And the best part about it id while I’m waiting I’m not
going to fret, I’m not going to worry, I’m not going to faint but I’m going
to be of good courage and I know I said I know he shall strengthen my
heart. For sometimes we tend to get weary, sometimes we get burdened
but inspite of, instead of worry just wait on the Lord. I’m trying to call the
roll you see I see Father Abraham and he can be a witness to waiting on
the Lord I’m going to run through this quickly. The Lord instructed
Abraham to make a sacrifice unto the Lord for he told him to take his son
the only one which was Isaac and go to a place he will send him to. The
story tells us that they went and when they got there after Abraham built
the altar he placed Isaac up there still waiting on the Lord and as he took
the knife to kill his son and then a voice from heaven he heard and told
him in the bushes there was a ram the story tells us that he sacrificed his
horn instead of his son because he trusted and waited God sent him a ram.
Just wait on the Lord can I go just a little further I want to call just one or 2
more so they can also witness about waiting on the Lord. Look at Daniel
when they threw him in the Lion’s Den I wasn’t there but they tell me in
you will find it in Daniel 6 beginning with the first verse but round about
the fifth verse we find that his co workers was jealous because of the way
he did things they started trying to find dirt on him and when they came to
the conclusion that they couldn’t find anything they decided to go to the
King y’all know the story and anyway King Darius signed the decree that
if anyone pray to anyone except him will be cast into the Lions den well
Daniel being one who didn’t have a closet religion and being one that
relied totally on the Lord they tell me that they threw Daniel into the Den
and all that night King Darius tossed and turned when we are out of the
will God will trouble our sleep how many of you know what I’m talking
about. They tell me that early the next morning the king got up and when
to the den and called on Daniel. Daniel answered and said I’m fine o king
because of my innocence God had favor. You see Daniel waited on the
Lord. He didn’t lose faith and he didn’t worry for he knows that his God
was able if only he waited. I’m trying to close this thing but it’s not easy
someone isn’t convinced that all they have to do is wait on the Lord. So
let me find someone else who waited on the Lord. You see I know y’all
think I’m going to call on Hannah or Job although they can give good
accounts about waiting on the Lord but I want to call on my buddy we find
in Joshua 6 how Joshua wanted to rebuild and restore Jericho but the only
thing blocking him is what is blocking most of us today. That was in his
case the Jericho wall. The story tells us that Joshua waited on the Lord
and indeed the Lord gave direct divine instructions after Joshua did exactly
what he was told the walls come down. I dare you to wait on the lord. I
dare you to trust him now the question was asked what will you be doing
when Jesus comes look at your neighbor and tell them I’m going to wait
on the Lord.
