Crossing the legs on God’s chair
There are different Kinds of Chairs
When I was small, I used to play a game with my friends called musical chairs. Do you remember it? The object of the game was to be in possession of a chair when the music stopped. All through life it often seems we’re caught up in this game.
There are different kinds of Chairs and in life’s “game” we can sit in one of these
• The principal’s office chair
• The kitchen chair
• The rocking chair
The recliner
Wheelchair
The electric chair
The throne of a King
Let me tell you about God’s chair
Isaiah 6:1
"I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple.
Ephesians 2:4-7 (Amplified)
4But God--so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,
5Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved ([a]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation).
6And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us [b]joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
7He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.
When you accept God’s love and mercy and acknowledge that you are a sinner. When you ask for forgiveness of your sins and submit to Jesus Christ as the Savior of your soul He raises you up from death unto His chair. We where spiritually dead but God decided to give us the very life of Christ Himself.
You don’t seat on God’s chair by your own choice but this happens by invitation only. God will pull you up from sin and death when you are united to Christ. In order to become united with him you need to deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Jesus. Some people think that a simple salvation prayer, or coming to Church will unite them with Christ but this is false. You can even give the appearance that you are saved but God that knows all things is able to look into your heart and he is the one who determines if you are ready to sit upon His chair.
Sitting on God’s Chair
Psalm 110:1
The LORD says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”
Hebrews 1:13
13 To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?”
Jesus is the manifest presence of God the son that came in flesh. God’s son was born as a man and lived among us. Died as a man and in this human condition he received the privilege to sit on the Throne. It’s not that God couldn’t sit on his own chair but Jesus did this representing mankind. The Lord elevated humans to a new condition through the sacrifice of Christ. Now Jesus is at the right hand of God in the heavenly Throne and the book of revelation describes how we will be judged by the one who sits upon the throne.
Crossing your legs upon the Throne
Crossing the legs is for some a symbol of elegance, for others something that’s bad for your legs. For me represents comfort and relaxation.
Today I want to tell you that God in his great love and mercy decided to raise you from your condition of spiritual death and allow you to sit at the right hand in glory.
Jesus overcame Satan, death and Hell so that Satan cannot crush us, death cannot hold us and Hell cannot have us at all. Our risen Savior triumphed over them and is now seated at God’s right hand. Ruling the universe He created.
In the Ancient Near East, it was customary at the end of a battle for the losing king to be thrown down face first at the feet of the winning king. The winning king would then step on the losing king’s neck. The losing king was literally made a footstool for the winning king. This is what we celebrate today.
Jesus won the victory for us and we can sit upon the throne crossing our legs and sharing the victorious moment when our enemy will be under our feet.
Still not convinced?
Romans 16:20 (Amplified Bible)
And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Conclusion
Jesus said in John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.
