Scriptures:- Job 22:28 “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways”.
Proverbs 18:20-21 “A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; [and] with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
So manytimes the words of death are spoken into our lives, over our lives, and about our lives without any realization of the power and consequences they possess. We are or have become conditioned to believe the old saying that sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. That is a lie, a masterly crafted deception breathed from the pits of hell. Yet many people don’t realize that it is a trick of the devil, because it seems as though it is just a kids saying or something we teach kids to make them feel accepted when others talk about them. We brush it off and say things like don’t pay them any attention because words can’t hurt you, they are just jealous of you. Now because we have developed the mentality that words don’t have any power we have a situation plaguing our schools called bullying. It has gotten out of hand and now kids are killing their school mates and / or themselves all because of the power of words.
Not long ago my wife and I were watching one of the crime shows and they had the story of these two girls that both liked this one boy. There were emails and text messages between the girls each one threatening the other over this guy. Finally the two girls got into and altercation one girl ends up dead and the other is in jail for life. When they interviewed the girl in prison she said there were all these messages back and forth and this was the first time they actually came face to face. The power of words caused them to end up in the situation both of them are in, one dead and the other in prison. Words have power.
The Bible says “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue…” in another scripture it says “Let every man be a liar but the Word of God be true”. That lets me know that the words that come out of my or someone else’s mouth possesses the ability to either kill or produce life. When we push it off as nothing or minimize it to a cute little saying like stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. What we do is condition ourselves or set ourselves and our children up to become victims of death spoken by negative words.
Words have power, as a matter of fact and I will show you in the message that words are the most powerful things we can use. If you don’t believe that, take 2 kids raised identically, constantly tell one they are good, can do anything, and be anything they want to be, speak nothing but positive things to that child. To the other kid constantly call them stupid, ignorant, bad, useless, they will never amount to anything, they are just a bad seed and watch what happens to them and their life. WHY, because words have power to either produce life or death.
Down through this year I am going to be talking about the power of words and show how death and life exist in the words we speak or that are spoken to, on, over, and at us.
The Bible says “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue”.
WATCH THIS:- Death and Life is not in the power of the devil. So many times we say the devil is trying to destroy me and true that is his job, but sometimes it’s not the devil it’s the words we speak into our own lives. Death and Life is not in the power of your bank account, it’s not in the power of your circumstances or situation, it’s not in your position or the people that you may know. Death and Life are in the power of the tongue.
The words you allow into your heart, not that organ that pumps blood, but the soulish part of you, that part of you that houses your desires, ambitions, will, intellect, emotions, the part that the Bible says out of the heart are the issues of life. Out of the heart the mouth speaketh and it is going to speak either life or death.
Anything negative is death, but the Word of God is life; therefore, you need to speak the Word of God because the Word of God counteracts all the words of death that are spoken in, toward, over, at and through you. That’s why David said in Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee”. David realized that out of the heart the mouth speaketh, so if I fill my heart with God’s word, which is life when I speak, I’ll speak life and I will enjoy the fruit thereof.
Let me give you an example of how negative words are death. You can wake up in the morning and be feeling good. Someone can say you look like you don’t feel well, someone else will ask are you feeling o.k., someone else will say you don’t look to well, before you realize it you begin to even say yourself I don’t feel so good today and then end up being sick all because of the words of negativity that were spoke in, at, over, and through you.
Job 22:28 “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways”.
A Decree:- is an order, a law, it is a command that is set forth by authority that must be followed by those under the decree. Once a decree is made it cannot be changed until after the one that has made it has died. (Remember that).
WATCH THIS:- When a king made a decree it was final, it couldn’t be changed and had to be obeyed or punishment was done for disobeying the decree. Hence is why Daniel was cast into the lion’s den and the 3 Hebrew boys were cast into the fiery furnace, because they disobeyed the king’s decree. So if a king’s decree carried that much power, just think about the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord’s when He makes a decree. It has to be obeyed, failure to do so will result in punishment.
So manytimes we say our lack of supply, our lack of power, our lack of understanding is the sovereign will of God. We say things happen in this world because God has a plan, He does, but sometimes things happen not because of His plan, but because of what we speak. Our government passes laws saying its O.K. for gay marriages to be performed, that homosexual rights are part of God’s plan. We struggle with church attendance constantly declining and say people just need to make up their minds. But I am reminded of a scripture in James 4:2 that says “Ye lust and have not; ye kill and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because you ask not”. The power is not in your lust, nor your capabilities, nor the government, but it’s in the words that you speak – You ask not. There is a commercial on television that says “just imagine the power of one voice”.
Example:- Because one woman spoke against it prayer was taken out of schools. Because Esther spoke up the plot to kill the Jews was stopped and Haman who developed the gallous ended up dying on the very thing he made for the Jews.
You better Talk about it!
Understand this, I am not talking about name it and claim it, blab it and grab it that was so popular not long ago, but living as God has ordained for us to live, by His example, His Word, and in His Holiness.
LET ME TEACH THIS:- We need to understand what it truly means to be Kingdom Minded.
In Matthew 6 and Luke 11 we have what is known as the Lord’s Prayer. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. In other words teach us how to pray so things will happen. Not praying in vain repetitions, but praying and seeing results happen. Anybody wants to see some results to their prayers.
Jesus said when you pray, pray like this, “EXAMPLE” “Our Father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name”. We must invoke the name of Jesus. “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven”.
You must first understand this:- PURPOSE! Man was created so that God’s Kingdom, which is spiritual and in heaven would be established on earth in the physical realm through mankind and His will would be done in earth, the physical realm, as it is in heaven, the spiritual realm.
What’s being done in Heaven? – Revelation 4 talks about how the beast, the 24 elders, and the heavenly host worship God that sits on the throne. What’s going on in Heaven is WORSHIP!
God wants that to be done in earth in the physical realm. WATCH THIS:- So when we read
Genesis 1 we are given the pattern of how we are supposed to operate in this physical realm as it is being done in the spiritual realm of heaven.
In the first 25 verses of Genesis 1 we find that God created by simply speaking a word. God said (decreed) let there be light and God saw the light. God spoke it, it happened, and He saw the results of what He said. EXAMPLE!
When we get to the 26th vs God makes man in His image and likeness and gives him (man) dominion (authority) over the fish of the sea, fowl of the air, over the cattle and over all the earth and everything that creepeth upon the earth. He gave His creation (man) authority, the same authority He has, the authority over the physical realm.
IMPORTANT NOTE:- Everything in the physical realm came from the spiritual realm. Hebrews 11:3 says it like this “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”. Since the physical realm is a product of the spiritual realm, if you want to affect the physical realm you need to get into the spiritual realm.
God created man in His image and likeness and gave him (man) dominion (authority) over everything. Then you come to Genesis 2:19 and the Bible says “And out of the ground (physical realm) the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam (man who He created in the physical realm in His image and likeness – in other words like Him, but in a physical form), he brought them to Adam to see what he (Adam-man) would call them: and whatsoever Adam called (said/decreed) every living creature that was the name thereof”. ADAM SAID IT AND IT WAS ESTABLISHED. The power and authority was in the words Adam spoke.
When mankind sinned he lost his power & authority to decree because his relationship with God was severed, but remember a King’s decree stayed in effect as long as He was alive.
Words are powerful, the devil wants you to believe that words will never hurt you, but the Bible says “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue”. This lets me know that words have the ability to either make a situation good or evil. Matthew 12:37 says “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”. There’s power in the words you speak.
The devil understand the power of the words that are spoken, when he entered the serpent and tempted Eve, he challenged the word. Genesis 3:1 “..and he said unto the woman, Yea hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden”. Vs 2&3 “the woman said (she spoke words) unto the serpent we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it lest ye die”.
Those aren’t the words that God had spoken, when you speak contrary to what God has said that’s death that is spoken into your life. Eve spoke death into her life, before she even took of the fruit because she was speaking something that God didn’t say.
WATCH THIS:- When they (Adam/Eve) disobeyed God immediately they fell out of the spiritual existence and were now totally part of the physical realm. The King of King’s decree was still in effect, whatsoever they spoke it shall be CATCH THIS:- but they now had the influence of sin and negativity, a carnal nature that is enmity toward God so all they could imagine to speak was evil and totally against the will of God. In the 6th chapter of Genesis God sends a flood, after the flood the King of King’s decree is still in effect because as long as the King is alive His decree (word) is alive.
Well we come to the 11th chapter of Genesis, the Bible says the whole earth was of one language and one speech verse 3 they said one to another let us make brick, stone, slime, and mortar and build a city and a tower and make us a name lest we be scattered upon the earth. Vs 6 And the Lord said they are one language and they will accomplish what they set out to do –WHY – because the power is in their tongue. So He confounds their tongue, He confuses their ability to decree a thing. Yet He (God) desires that man be in relationship with Him and His Kingdom be established on earth as it is in Heaven.
So He (God) which is spirit takes His word (His decree) wraps it in flesh John 1:14, places it in the womb of a virgin named Mary. The angel Gabriel tells Mary that she is going to give birth to the son of God (God’s word (decree) manifested in the flesh) He is going to save men from their sins, but He is also going to be the example that man is to follow in this physical realm in order to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth.
WATCH THIS:- That’s why He told the disciples when you pray say “Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name thy Kingdom come thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven”. The spiritual needs to be manifested here in the physical. Jesus gave us multiple examples of how we are to operate in this physical realm as Kingdom Folk.
He said ask and it shall be given – Matthew 7:7, Luke 11;9, James 1:5
You have not because you ask not James 4:2
Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name John 14:13, 15:16, 16:23.
He spoke to the wind and the sea and it obeyed.
He spoke to the dead and life was restored.
He spoke to the blind and they received their sight.
He spoke to the lame and they began to walk.
He spoke to the sick and they were healed.
He spoke to water and turned it to wine.
He spoke to demons and they had to obey.
He spoke to death and the grave and said death where is thy sting oh grave where is thy victory.
He gave us the example of how to decree a thing and it be established unto us.
WATCH THIS:- In Mark 4:36-41 we find the his-story of Jesus and the disciples when they are in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus is in the back of the boat sleep. A storm rises, the disciples panic and say Master carest not that we perish. Jesus got up spoke to the wind and the waves and said Peace Be Still and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But in the 40th verse Jesus said to the disciples “..Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith”.
He rebuked the disciples because they had the power to do the same thing, but they didn’t put that power into action.
So manytimes in this life we are beaten and battered by the storms of life, it seems as though, like the disciples said we ask the question, Jesus don’t you even care what I’m going through, don’t you care that I die or live. We cry in desperation Lord help me!!!!!! And He says I’ve given you the power and authority where is your faith. You need to decree a thing.
In Mark 11 the Bible says Jesus and the disciples were going to Jerusalem, the Bible says and Jesus was hungry and He saw a fig tree afar off having leaves, this indicated that fruit was on the tree. So Jesus came to the tree happy looking to fin figs on the tree, when He got to the tree there were no figs on the tree only leaves. The Bible says for the time of the figs was not yet, this simply means that harvest time for the figs hadn’t taken place yet so the figs should have been there on the tree.
Because the tree didn’t do what it was supposed to do or what it appeared to do, Jesus said to the tree (HE decreed a thing) “No man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever” and the disciples heard it”. The next morning Jesus and His disciples were coming back pass that same fig tree once again, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. Peter said unto Jesus, Master behold the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away”
WATCH THIS:- He (Jesus) said it, it was established, they saw the results.
Vs 22 Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God.
Vs 23 “For verily (truly) I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith”.
Vs 24 “Therefore I say unto you; what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive, them and ye shall have them”.
WATCH THIS:- Jesus was letting them/us know the power is in your tongue. If you decree a thing and believe God in your heart and not doubt, it has to come to pass.
You got the power to decree a thing and it be established unto you.
All you have to do is talk about it.
DECREE A THING AND IT SHALL BE ESTABLISHED UNTO YOU.

I decree that this altar is Holy Ground. No longer will people come here for prayer just because someone made the altar call and church is almost over, but I decree that lives will be changed here.
I decree deliverance will be done here.
I decree habits will be broken here.
I decree souls will be saved here.
I decree healings will be done here.
I decree broken hearts minded here.
I decree families will be put back together here.
I decree financial breakthrough will be done here.
I decree jobs will be given here.
I decree you will never be the same again.
I decree the devil is defeated.
I decree that spiritual famine is over.
I decree past lifestyles are changed.
I decree increase.
I decree prosperity.
I decree wealth.
I decree that we shall live and not die.
I decree that souls will be added to the church.
I decree there is going to be a new thing here in this place.
I decree joy unspeakable and full of glory.
I decree that in 2011 we will not be afraid to step out on faith.
I decree that in 2011 new heights will be accomplished.
I decree books being written.
I decree walls being knocked down.
I decree new buildings being built.
I decree overflow.
I decree and it shall be established.
I decree worship teams being established.
I decree spontaneous worship will break out in this place.
I decree new levels of spiritual excellence in this place.
I decree new melodies and new sound systems.
I decree a new level of intimacy with God.
I decree that the Apostolic Glorious Church is going to be a vital entity in the community.
I decree that we will Love Everybody.
I believe God desires for a new sound to come up from Apostolic Glorious Church that has not come from here before.
I decree a new release in our worship and our praise.
God gave us the power and authority, showed us by example, and told us that it shall be established unto you.
He said you have not because you ask not.
So let’s Decree a Thing.
