Over Load
Pastor Ken Crow
Matthew 11:28-29 (King James Version)
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Many Christians today are simply over loaded by the task of daily living.
Several years ago I lived in an older mobile home with an electrical system that included a fuse box. It had those little different colored fuses that I quickly learned to keep in good supply. Seems as though every time I turned around I was out at that fuse box replacing one of those fuses.
The fuses were not bad or faulty. There was nothing wrong with the fuse box. There was nothing wrong with the electrical wiring in the house . What was going on was this.
The wiring was being ask to carry more current than it was designed to carry. This caused the whole system to over heat and blow the fuse in order to stop the circuit.
1. Some of us are trying to carry more than we are designed to carry.
1 Peter 5:6-10 (King James Version)
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Psalm 55:22 (King James Version)
22Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
2. The enemy will always try to over load you.
Exodus 5:3-13 (King James Version)
3And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
4And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
10And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
11Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
13And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw
The reason for the withdraw of the straw was to take away any time the children of Israel had to devote to God.
That my friend is why the enemy is trying to over load you .
He does not always oppress us spiritually by problems but many times just by keeping us to busy to devote any time to God.
Keeping us to overloaded to find time to pray.
Keeping us to overloaded to find time to worship.
Keeping us so overloaded with life that we just don’t have time to read the Word.
The main thing the enemy wants is to keep you from Jesus .
Pharaoh did not want theses Children of God sacrificing to their Lord.
Pharaoh couldn’t have cared less about the bricks. He had plenty of bricks.
He knew if they had time to call on God he might be in trouble!
The enemy of your soul knows that too!
He will try to add to your task. He will sometimes take away the straw and what was already hard and time consuming will become harder and more time consuming.
3. The Word of God gives us the solution.
Deuteronomy 26:6-8 (King James Version)
6And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:
7And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
8And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:
John 6:27 (King James Version)
27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
We must finish here with the scripture with which we started. Jesus Said:
Matthew 11:28 (King James Version)
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
