SATAN’S SUBTLE SPECIOUS SYNTHETIC SYLLOGISMS
INTRO:
A WORD ABOUT SATAN:
EPHESIANS 6:10-12 “Finally be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might
Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s
schemes. For our struggle is not against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
I PETER 5:8 “ Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
II CORINTHIANS 11:14 “And no wander for Satan himself masquerades as a angel
of light.”
GOD IS IN LOVE WITH YOU AND SEEKS YOUR HIGHEST GOOD.
GOD KNOWS EVERY DETAIL ABOUT YOU AND BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD HE SET IN MOTION A PLAN TO SAVE YOU.
1.It is a message of love.
2.It is also a message of conviction.
3.We are about to make a decision for Christ – then Satan steps up to the plate and says:
I. SATAN SAYS…DON’T LET GOD TELL YOU WHAT TO DO!
A. Don’t let the preacher tell you what to do.
B. Don’t you get too emotional about this church stuff.
C. You have the capacity to say no – now say it
D. You are independent exercise your rights
E. But we see that we are hopeless and helpless without Jesus.
F. Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God”
G. We see in Acts that Cornelius was a good man but still was not saved and the world begins
to convict us and we begin to turn to the Lord but Satan comes up beside us and says:
II.SATAN SAYS… YOU DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH!
A. Look at that Bible. There are 66 Books –what do you know.
B. You do not even know the books of the bible!
C. The preacher uses words you do not even understand.
D. But the minister begins to show what they did in the book of Acts.
E. Is sound pretty simple and you think – I can do that and begin there.
F .But the Devil comes along and says:
III.SATAN SAYS… CHRISTIANS ARE A BUNCH OF PHONIES!
A. If you could flash up on a screen of all the things that
Christians are going to be doing. If you could show up on that screen
what they are thinking…you would never go to church. You say to
yourself, yes….I don’t have to be a part of a church where there are
pretenders.
B. A Hypocrite is someone pretending to be someone that is better than they are.
C. Satan tries to get folks to concentrate on the one mistake a Christian makes.
D. The church is full of people who know they aren’t what they want to be. That is why we are
here clinging to each other and encouragingone another and trusting God to Grow.
E. You hear the preacher say “When you stand before God, the Lord is not going to ask you
how many phonies were in the church – He is going to ask you, why did you not except his
love?
F. You begin to realize that only you will give an account before God and that you need to come
to Jesus. Satan steps up to the plate and says:
IV. SATANS SAY…THERE IS TOO MUCH CONFUSION AMONG RELIGIOUS LEADERS!
A. There are All kinds of churches and those guys on TV say
different things. I can’t trust anyone!
1. So much religious division. Who is right?
2. I am not going to follow Jesus – there is too much disagreement.
3. Illustrate: Go to the doctor and you go and get a different
opinion. (you do not quit because two doctors disagree)
B. You begin to read the bible yourself.
1. You can trust the fact that God loves you
2 You believe the Jesus died for you
3. You see the need to be forgiven of your sins
4. You understand by faith you come to Christ by his grace.
5. You understand that you are baptized into Jesus and added to his family the church.
6. You decide to act on what you know the word says and Satan comes along and says:
V. SATAN SAYS… YOU WILL BE GOING AGANST YOUR PARENTS!
A. If you do what you believe what the Bible says- you will be saying that what your parents
believed was wrong.
1. Illustrate: scales in the small grocery store.
2. Just to go along with someone that is related to you to please them does not make you
right before God.
3. You think, I need to come to Jesus and Satan comes along and says:
VI. SATAN SAYS… LOOK WHAT YOU WILL BE GIVING UP? YOU WILL MISS ALL THE FUN!
A. Remember, The devil masquerades around as and angel of light. He says to you:
1.There is fun in sin for a season. The problem is the season soon comes to and end.
2.You have to get up and go to church.
3.You have to give of your income.
4.You have to live a clean life.
5.You can’t curse like a sailor
6.You can’t commit adultery.
7.You can’t lie.
8.You have to learn patience.
9.You must learn to love your neighbor.
B.You begin to think…hey this is the best way to live.
1.No quilt
2.No hangovers in the morning.
3.Building a good relationship with my family.
4.Right relationship with God.
5.A real purpose for living
6.A good example for children.
7.The cost of living for God does not compare to the cost of living for Satan.
8.But Satan sees you are getting serious so he says:
VII. SATAN SAYS…YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
A. A few minutes ago he was telling you –just say no to God. You are smart, you do not need
God, now he is telling you that you are not good enough.
1.You cannot live the Christian life.
2.You can’t hold that tongue of yours
3.look at that lust in your heart.
4.God will not forgive you of the past
5.You cannot live up to the standard of perfection.
B.You cannot live the Christian life on your own. The devil does not want to mention Gods mercy
his grace, nor his love.
C. The truth is the only way you can make it as a Christian and go to heaven is thru faith in
Christ and without him you cannot make it…and so you need Jesus.
D. Your about ready to give your life to Jesus and Satan says, hey before they sing that invitation
song…
VIII. SATAN SAYS… DO NOT BE IN A HURRY- YOU HAVEPLENTY OF TIME.
1.Not today.
2.You have plenty of time.
3.All these things you should do… just not today.
4.Hey it is embarrassing. Wait awhile…think it thru.
5.Sleep on it. Not today.
6.One of these days is not on the calendar.
Conclusion:
Satan is asking you to follow him. Christ has stretched his arms out on Calvary. It is time
to make a decision. Who will you listen to. Who gets your soul for eternity? The decision
is yours today.
