Introduction
• This week I want to talk with you about having a cause for the Kingdom.
• All across the world, each week, Christians gather at traditional church services. However, many have become passive about advancing the Kingdom of God.
• There is a cause for our salvation, and purpose for our lives.
• We are placed on this earth for the cause of the Kingdom. We are Kingdom builders and financiers.
• A cause is a reason to get involved.
• This morning we need to take the led out and go do something towards advancing the Kingdom on this earth.
• We can choose to become extraordinary Christians, making a mark in the lives of others as well as our own. Or we can choose to be unproductive.
• This morning, let us look at the Word of God to spark a fire in us to advance the Kingdom of God! It is up to you and me!
(NKJV) 2 Kings 7 3 Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die? 4 If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die.”
1) Four leprous men, sitting at the entrance of a gate, said one to another, “Why sit here until we die?”
a) Shout … Nothing happens till I get up! I can’t score sitting on the sidelines.
b) As Christians, we have a critical decision to make: either we are going to be active concerning the things of God, or not.
i) Each of us has a critical part to play. Get into the game.
ii) The devil is going to do everything he can to distract us from our purpose.
iii) Instead of simply going through religious routines, we should establish and work on our personal relationship with God.
c) Remember, people are still dying the ultimate death and will be destined to eternal damnation. People – souls are tied to each one of us.
2) David’s life demonstrated that being extraordinary for God takes courage.
a) Shout…I have the courage to have an extraordinary life for Jesus.
b) At a young age, David decided to face an intimidating giant.
i) The men were so afraid of the giant, they ran from him.
(NKJV) 1 Samuel 17 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 25 So the men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel; and it shall be that the man who kills him the king will enrich with great riches, will give him his daughter, and give his father’s house exemption from taxes in Israel.” 26 Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” 27 And the people answered him in this manner, saying, “So shall it be done for the man who kills him.” 28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” 29 And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?”
c) There are giants in our lives today that we must face. They can take the form of debt, family problems, or insufficiency in other areas.
i) We may decide to run from our giants, or do nothing at all.
ii) Those giants may seem impossible to conquer; however, they can be defeated when we allow God to help us.
iii) David had the courage to defeat the giant, even though he had been criticized by his own brother.
d) David saw a cause. A cause is a reason to get involved.
i) He believed that God was bigger than the giant he faced.
ii) He had previous experiences with God and a personal relationship with Him. (Look back at where God took you from)
iii) David had personal victories. God had delivered him from a lion and a bear. (God has delivered us from many situations as well)
e) We should learn to defeat our private, personal battles just as David did.
(NKJV) 1 Samuel 17 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”
i) Our private victories determine our public triumph.
ii) The revelation David received during his personal time with God gave him confidence.
iii) He was not at all intimidated by Goliath.
3) David told Goliath what he was going to do to him.
(NKJV) 1 Samuel 17 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
a) Shout…My confidence is in the Lord. I will speak the end result.
b) We need to boldly speak the Word of God to our giants in life instead of allowing them to intimidate us.
c) There is a cause in our purpose and victory. Like Jesus, we are to be a witness for God.
(NKJV) John 18 37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
i) Satan wants to distract us and keep us from being a witness.
d) When we walk in love, we are supporting Jesus’ cause.
e) We must love one another, so that people will know we belong to Him.
(NKJV) John 13 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Conclusion
• We are placed on this earth for the cause of the Kingdom. We are Kingdom builders and financiers.
• A cause is a reason to get involved.
• Today, we must get involved, set it up and get off the sidelines. God wants us involved in His plans and wants us to keep the fire burning in our relationship with Him.
• The four leprous men had a cause. David had a cause. Jesus had a cause. You have a cause.
• You can do it. It is in you. Got placed His DNA in you to get it done on His behalf.
• Shout…Jesus, I have a cause for the Kingdom. I will get into the game. I will face the giants in my life and defeat them. I have a cause! My God is bigger than my problems. I have confidence in Jesus. I am an overcomer. I will draw people to Jesus through my testimony. Thank you Jesus. Amen.
